At last a CD of Robben Ford I really liked again. In line with his first albums (although nog as good as Handful of blues, in my opinion his tour de force, hence the four stars). He's still the master of the "smooth-blues", with very tastefull guitar solos and jazz-influences. I know of only two guys who put so much jazz in their blues, Robben Ford and Melvin Taylor. And both are masters at their craft. I recommend it.

Here written are many magnificent Kudos for this CD and I would just like to add a few comments from the casual listener who has always enjoyed Ray Charles from the living room armchair with much awe and many goose-bumps. As the final work of this great artist whose name is synonymous with greatness, I am hard pressed to find a single flaw in this collection. On many occasions I have popped this CD into the home or car player and just let it run its course as many as two or three times without changing it out. The recordings have a dynamic sound that fills your body and soul with music of the spheres, whether it's orchestra, choir, or bald-faced blues guitars and jazzed up Pie-Anna's. Every supple nuance and phrase of every note is captured ... Read More:

I'm a bit slow at discovering the Black Keys but I LOVE THEM since I did discover them! This is the best band to come along since Nirvana. Magic Potion was my first Keys purchase and I didn't think I could possibly love anything better by this band but man, I WAS WRONG! This CD ROCKS! Not a bad song on here!
Release Date July 22, 2008
This album invites you to unite and a human race and celebrate all of us. She draws from vast source of great songwriters. Yes even Garth Brooks! I saw her live on tour with Holly Near and others and I think my favorite songs live were John Brown and War. On the album I love We Shall Be Free. The driving guitar sounds like a train on John Brown and War was turned into the mournful warning. But mostly the album is just too much fun. This is because they sound like they are having fun. The sound is raw like it came straight out of Memphis and Stax Records which adds some real authenticity to the soul. Seriously though seeing her live blew my mind because I never realized what a vocal range she had! Holy heavenly god of cow gods!

So they finally went back and remastered the muddy audio on this classic album! The new sound is fantastic -- clear as a bell. Sadly, while the audio was being cleaned up, no one bothered to clean up the very, very sloppy edits (especially in the second half), such as when the second intro of B.B. (why two separate intros, anyway?) gets abruptly chopped off and goes right into a song that from the background crowd noise came at some other point in the show. If you're going to do a live album, the tracks should at least create the illusion of a live show, especially in this digital era when fade-outs and fade-ins are no longer used, and audience applause can be smoothly edited in to create seamless transitions!
The performance is powerful and this ... Read More:

"Stop" never fails to get me, no matter how many listens. Same thing with "Albert's Shuffle", w/ or w/o horns. All in all, a brilliant album.
Release Date October 22, 1996
We were very pleased with the CD-Simply Red Greatest Hits. We have been a fan for many years and was happy to get his best hits. There were many of these I have heard and didn't realize they were his. If you want to listen to some great hits done as only he can, this is a great purchase!
Release Date February 11, 1997
this is another great album to listen to when you want to chill out or clean the house to. even though she doesn't have the strongest voice, her lyrics and sound bring something new to music.
Release Date October 25, 1990
I like the instrumentation of this CD; it's got a lot going on in ways that you don't normally hear, but the actual melodies get kinda boggy about halfway through (or sooner), and if Van Morrison CAN sing (like a pro) he blatantly refuses to do so. Another perfect example of how this "they/we write their/our own songs, so they're/we're better" mentality is ruining music; not that it's a new thing, obviously; this album came out in 1968 after all, before The Beatles broke up, but I think music would be more enjoyable if people would quit trying to do everything themselves and work as a team; i.e.: someone writes the music, someone else arranges it, someone else sings it, someone else performs it...of course it's impressive when someone can do all of that and pull it ... I preordered this CD. I just listen to it for the second time. This is satire at it's most boring. Don't bother with this CD. Ry has done much more interesting stuff, both lyrically and musically. Listen to the samples before you buy. I wish I did. If you like what you hear ignore this and go with your own tastes but for me "yuck!"
