As I was watching this movie, viewing the closing credits, the song "Neither of Us Can See" played. I wasn't paying too much attention to the movie (I think it was good), but I was suddenly blown away by this music. I thought it was The Pretenders. The song is a duet with Chrisy Hynde singing one part, a Pretenders style guitar solo in the middle part and a very cool arrangement (notice the piano). I made a wish for this CD. My kids gave to me for Christmas.
This one song is a hidden gem. I never heard it on the radio, which stinks, because people should hear it. It has great structure. Interesting lyrics, too, when you dissect it. A duet, beginning with "I am one big chemical reaction.." (separateness); ending with "We are..." ... Read More:

"Dude Descending a Staircase" successfully straddles the fence between the ambient and the exciteable styles that Apollo 440 has previously shown. Fans of the former often point to "Millenium Fever" and much of "Electroglide in Blue" as proof that the band can create lush, atmospheric, complex electronic music. The other camp, those that dig much of "Gettin' High on your Own Supply" know that @440 can rock, with big beats, brash vocals and when necessary, power guitar. Their latest work, indeed underappreciated (and unreleased in the US...found mine in Holland just this year!), generally keeps these styles separated between two discs.
The first CD showcases the party tracks, starting with the title cut, featuring the Beatnuts on vocal. yes, ... Read More:

It may take a while to grow on you but `Milk It' really is one of the most diverse cd's by a single artist that money can buy. Obviously there are several collaborations here (Iggy Pop and Liam Gallager's contributions being highlights) and they all work really well. DIV have covered so many genres that you will rarely have to change cd's. They go from rock n' roll to an electro `Orbital'/`Chrystal Method' sound, to chill out and back again. I can't stop listening, it's brilliant.

First off, I have to disagree with the reviewer who said that Diplo's "California Soul" remix "destroyed" Marlena Shaw's vocals. Yes, the original can't be improved upon, but out of all the remixes on this disc, Diplo's remix is probably the most faithful to the original song. It's almost like he was too timid to really mess with such a classic, so he just locked in the tempo, added some beats, low end, a few filter effects, and that's about it. The track sounds more like something Diplo would have done for his Ninja Tune album. Most of the rest of the remixes on this release range from poor to above-average. Surprisingly, the weakest remix on this album comes from one of the strongest artists: The Cinematic Orchestra. Their beatless remix of Fitzgerald's "Kick" ... Read More:

First off, I cannot believe the negative reviews this album is getting. It seems that people are expecting it to be something completely different, and when its not what they expected, they dismiss it. It's as if they gave it a spin in their car, didn't hear anything as catchy as "My Mate Paul" or "Gritty Shaker", and then tossed it. I'm not sure how that can be as this album is very hard to come by and I would think the people that are purchasing would invest a little more time into it.
In all fairness though, if you're only exposure to David Holmes is his work on soundtracks, and you were expecting something similar, then yes, I can see how this album would be a bit of a disappointment. I'll admit, I didn't think it was as good as some of Holmes' other ... Read More:

This taught me a valuable lesson: Read the reviews first!
I got this and realized that I have everything on it already. But, if you are unfamiliar with them, it is a good buy. They definitely picked the good stuff for this comp.

This is just my opinion but- I was disappointed when I got the album, all the songs are very, very similar. None of them had anything to offer for me to say "Yes, I like this one more then the others", which was surprising to me even. While over all the beats and some of the songs where not too bad, they get old very fast. Not something I'll set out to listen to again.
All in all, if I had to pick one to keep I don't think I would
