Lunatic Calm creates another Electronic CD that doesn't fit the mold. They continue to fuse different music styles together to create a more Alternative /Electronic sound, and on this album, more ambient type tracks. The 1st album has more "Grit" & "Edge" - and that's what I like about LC. This album is good - just lighter. Mb

I've been trying to chase down this mixed compilation for a couple of months now. Ever since I saw that The Herbaliser (Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba) contributed a mix towards London nightclub's Fabric label. Known for their trip-hop, downtempo, and jazz infused instrumental hip-hop tracks, The Herbaliser got signed to Ninja Tune back in 1995, and since then been a resident for the label's staple sound. Their last appearance was a 7" single on Skyline Recordings, as well as a track contribution (Gadget Funk) towards a 2008 triple CD sampler from Ninja Tune, You Don't Know: Ninja Cuts. For the FabricLive.26 mix, The Herbaliser took a step back from downtempo sound to make a party mix. And what a mix it is. The turntable skills are flawless, but it is the ... Read More:

I guess I should have read some of the comments/reviews on this before spending the money! I do like the music, what little of it there is. Way too short. It seems as though it is just several of the "listen to sample here" things you can listen to before purchasing music online. I guess when you think of Miles you tend to expect 10-30 minute songs? All in all I was disappointed with this CD and would not recommend it, unless you just really really love Miles and have to own anything that has his touch (kinda like me!) Maybe these guys can release something a little more substantial in the future and I would give them another chance!

The Chemical Brothers break it down with some old school scratchin' and thumping beats. While not quite the peak of the Brothers' sound, this album offers a glimpse of things to come and the beginnings of the signature Chemical style. "Leave Home" starts things off with a bang, quickly dropping mad beats with heavy bass guaranteed to make you move. The album really finds its stride midway, beginning with "Three Little Birdies Down Beats" and transitioning through to "Chemical Beats". Several lyrical tracks culminating in "Alive Alone" round out the set. A must for any fans of the big beat U.K. sound.

With a decent collection of the so called fundamentals of big beat (crystal meth, aphex, chemical brothers...) I can honestly say that Shoot the Boss outstrips all competitors as far as straight danceable beat making is concerned. One of the first I have seen to cmobine electronic with regae funk, Monkey Mafia creates rhythms that range from dance club hits to boulevard cruisin grooves.
Tracks that top the list for me are "Healing of the Nation," which holds an amazing beat that makes you think of a track that the Gorillaz were striving to reach but never quite achieved.
"Blow the Whole Joint Up" is a pulse pounding track that keeps you shakin your butt throughout its entirety, and is one of the few songs that you can actually get into on Amazon's ... Read More:

Koushik is on Peanut Butter Wolf's "Stones Throw" label. That said, it's hard to expect anything less than a 3.5 from the musician of such a reputable label, given the quality of his peers: Madlib, Dudley Perkins, Milosh, etc. Koushik, somehow, manages to roll with the best of the label's offerings despite lacking the notoriety that some of the aforementioned artists have.
"Be With" is a real charmer. Coming in at less than half an hour in length, it's amazing that it can be as memorable and consistently awesome as it is, especially with 15 tracks on the album. Due to the length of the overall album (which is a combination of two LPs), most of the tracks are about two minutes in length. Part of me wishes that they could be longer but another part of me is ... Read More:

I picked up a copy of Micro's [...] because I thoroughly enjoyed DJ Feelgood and Keoki's installments in the series. But, damn...Micro is one cheesy bastard. The trance on this disc makes me want to puke chunks all over Micro's arrogant little face! I was so pissed after I bought this album that I almost snapped it in half and tossed it in the incinerator, but Tall Paul's "Freebase" Tech-House song was the only reason I didn't. Anyways, it's my own fault for getting this worthless hour of human waste, I should have read the track selection on the back. If this is Micro's way of properly expressing emotion via music, then he should just quit now before he influences more of the sheep that gave this album 5 stars.---It had to be said, sorry.

This CD features some of the best artists and DJs in the game. Begins on the right note with "Check the Skills" by the Freestylers and DJ Z-Trip. The diversity of the tracks is good. There is everything from house (Tim 'Love' Lee) and trance (Photek), to big beat (Propellerheads) and drum&bass (Howie B.). Any fan of electronic music and turntablists should get this compilation.

This is the cd that started all the Tech Mix series, but this one is somewhat lacking. This is another cd I cant let play all the way thru because it's just so inconsistent and not near as good as the other tech mixes.Tech Mix 00'is the best, with 2.0 coming in 2nd place.I dont recommend this mix unless you like boredom in the middle of good music.
