Okay, I have been a fan of Micro's for years and years, and in his first CD "Coast to Coast", you will find that Micro has definitly been at the top of the list of Dj's ever since he started out! I don't really care for the non-stop "Breakbeat" thing, but oh my Lord!!!! This CD will blow anybody away, I guarantee it!!!! In my opinion, this is when Micro loved to show what he could do, because there is a little bit of everything burried in this CD!! The CD starts beautifully working it's way into the hit "Acid or XTC", then simply blows you away!! Buy it, even if you don't like "Breakbeats"!

I have had this compilation CD for at least 3 years now and I STILL am not tired of it. I do not carry this CD with me when I travel because I enevitably end up driving 80 miles and hour, which, in my vehicle is emminently dangerous. What I know about techno and/or dance music would fill a thimble, but I can tell you when a song rocks, and that's what we have here.

This CD, in the late 90's, was a critical implement to the American understanding of the movement taking place in Europe >outside< of the Ministry of Sound. For those of you that spent your collegiate summers studying various forms in Oxford, you'll have vague recollections of weekends spent in London's back-alley clubs that only the "natives" could navigate.

The first release of the now famous OM LOUNGE series. This first of 10-plus cd releases is chock full low bpm, full-a-funk, grooves. The formula used in these productions has never wavered. The producers have taken inspiration from every corner of the planet to offer the listener a very satisfing musical journey. Sitars from India are juxtapozed seemlesly into an Afro-Caribbean rhythm...Bhuddist chanting draped over a throbbing beat of the conga drum...European violins soaring over South African souka and more. The experience is quite uplifting and refreshing. I highly recommend the entire series of; Om Lounge. You can't go wrong with these. Bon Appetit.

First off, I have to disagree with the reviewer who said that Diplo's "California Soul" remix "destroyed" Marlena Shaw's vocals. Yes, the original can't be improved upon, but out of all the remixes on this disc, Diplo's remix is probably the most faithful to the original song. It's almost like he was too timid to really mess with such a classic, so he just locked in the tempo, added some beats, low end, a few filter effects, and that's about it. The track sounds more like something Diplo would have done for his Ninja Tune album. Most of the rest of the remixes on this release range from poor to above-average. Surprisingly, the weakest remix on this album comes from one of the strongest artists: The Cinematic Orchestra. Their beatless remix of Fitzgerald's ... Read More:

Even as a Professional DJ, it must be a daunting task to be selected to kick-off a series that is associated with a respected London club name like Fabric. Smartly, Fabric chose to showcase two (generally) distinctive sounding subseries with single-disc compilations. The much more mainstream studio mixes falling under the Fabric series and the live sets (which ARE actually live for the most part) modelled after the club's popular friday nights. Fabriclive. Nice concept.
For me, truely recorded live sets lose that special "live element" (which makes them so great) when transferred to a commercial album. This premier (which I believe was not recorded live) fails in so many ways. 23 tracks on a single CD should be your first red-flag that this ... Read More:

First, a little about myself. I grew up in Orlando and started sneaking into clubs in 91/92ish. I have heard Icey, Kimball, Cannalte, Sasha, Lawrence, Fortier, AK1200 among others spin in Orlando. Icey on CD is not Icey live. Totally different vibe. I like the Florida breaks and love Progressive and Trance. This CD is probably the best Icey CD out there. The sound is fresh and deviates from normal FL breaks or DnB. So yeah, it may not do it for you if you want that pure sound. Otherwise it combines different genres to produce a CD that is fun to listen to. Definitely worth the dough!
