I had to write something after I saw a couple bad reviews here from people who obviously identify Cook/Fatboy with a very narrow genre, but if you like this artist not for some genre he fits into, but for his endless creativity and the fun he jams into his funk, BUY THIS CD. I can see how some people can't handle everything going on here, from a tribute to original reggae dubmaster King Tubby, to funkmaster James Brown, to "roll the dice" a precursor to the acid beats of "better living thru chemistry", to obscure 60's French synth-rock of Jean Jacques Perry, to Steve Miller (!)... Cook makes it all work and he makes it all his own.

When Shirley Bassey, at the age of 60, was approached by the Propellerheads to do "History Repeating", she initially turned them down and suggested that they give the song to Tina Turner. However they insisted that the song was written and arranged for her, and Bassey finally agreed to record it. The results of this dancible Propellerheads/Bassey jazz hit, is a whole new legion of Gay fans and youth in general. The song became part of the soundtrack for the movie "There's Something About Mary", and was also used in a Jaguer commercial, helping to re-introduced Bassey's voice to a lot of Americans who are to young to remember "Goldfinger". WOW!! This was my first Fatboy CD. I had never even heard of him before buying. I was bored musically and looking for something new, different, and good. Talk about a bullseye.
I consider 'Boutique', to be one of the best CD's I've ever bought. Seamless music melding with infectious beats and glorious upbeat tempo make this a fantastic party album. Buy it, borrow it, download it, whatever it takes to experience this Fatboy masterpiece

I have not heard the whole cd yet, but i first heard of this group from seeing the movie "Get Carter"... I loved the music in that movie so i went searching for the soundtrack and bought it... I was greatly disappointed when i saw that the song "From Rusholme With Love" WAS NOT on there!! I hate it when movies do that... you'll hear a song in a movie and it will most likely be the best song of the movie, and yet it won't be on the soundtrack... so i went hunting for the cd and found it... i can't wait to hear it all... especially the whole song of "From Rusholme With Love"... the song reminds me of the group Supreme Beings of Leisure and their song "Sublime"... it's got some of the same instruments in Mint Royale's song... and i love the instruments they use... ... I love the song rapture, its awesome, its so great, I've never heard the other songs, but rapture is by far the best.
