Cowboy Bebop Remixes: Remixes for Freelance

by: The Seatbelts

Release Date August 16, 2002
I love Yoko Kanno. I love Cowboy Bebop. I love the Seatbelts.

The remixed versions of the songs are very listenable, I would carry this CD around to listen to as a pick-me-up. I actually think I have done that before.
"Tank!" Luke Vibert Mix is very poppy and jazzy and fun, I love this version so much. I brought this CD to a dance session in an acting class and this is what we danced to. Everyone loved it.
"Forever Broke" Fila Brazilia Mix is so beautiful! It's on a mix CD I made of all the Cowboy Bebop songs because it's good for chilling/meditation, dance, study, everything.
"Piano Black" was given a little more depth.

Overall, it's a very listenable CD. If you're a diehard fan of Cowboy Bebop, you ... Read More:

Blues Clues Boogie

CD-Charts > Music > Anime and Video Game Soundtracks
by: Blue's Clues

Release Date November 19, 2002
My son loves Blues Clues and can't get enough of this CD. It features songs from different Blues Clues videos and music CDs. The only thing is that it only has eight songs that go by really fast when you're listening to it in the house or in the car. Then my son wants to start it over and hear them all again
which means we hear these same songs twice as often as a CD with more songs. But it is a pretty cheap CD so I guess it is worth it for my son, but unless your kid really loves Blues Clues it probably isn't worth buying since it is so short.

Resident Evil: Original Soundtrack Remix

CD-Charts > Music > Anime and Video Game Soundtracks
by: Game Music, Resident Evil

Release Date February 15, 2000
This soundtrack is exactly what I'd hoped it would be---Something that brings back memories of the old PS One days (modern to some of us, I'm sure), and the greatest game ever to come out for the system: Resident Evil One.

This truly is a must for any game soundtrack collector. Don't be fooled by the REMIX title--Only a few of the tracks are full-blown remixes, and even the ones that are remixed are mixed with precise drum machines, synths, strings,---basically what I mean is, it might be computerized, but they did a superb job--This is NOT a collection with the generic remixes we hear on the radio everyday. I won't say that it's "Genius", however, I can tell that a lot of "grunt" musical, hard-working talent was put into this great ... Read More:

the approach is great: the best new punk bands covering some of the greatest punk bands of the past. however, as far as a selling point goes, the creators of this album forgot one thing:

hardcore punks hate emo bands.

it doesn't matter that senses fail's cover of the ledgendary suicidal tendencies song "institutionalized" excels at conveying the raw anger and frustration in the song, they're still a sub-par emocore band so punks won't like them.

it doesn't matter that taking back sunday convey everything 80's punk is about with their cover of "suburban home" with "I like food" thrown in, they're still too sugary of a band for punks to stomach.

and even though my chemical romance shows obvious punk instincts ... Read More:

Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles

CD-Charts > Music > Anime and Video Game Soundtracks
from: Varese Sarabande

Release Date February 13, 2007
From a musical standpoint, there don't seem to be very many original ideas in this soundtrack: If I didn't know any better, I'd swear Glasgow borrowed a lot from David Arnold, Joel Goldsmith, John Williams, and James Horner (among others). I suppose that if you're gonna borrow, you might as well borrow from the best!

Still, this is an entertaining score that does a lot to enhance what I felt was an otherwise mediocre film. I do like the choral elements, and the use of some nifty percussion. And yes, I did get goosebumps upon hearing the Ulpio Minucci's original Robotech theme in the opening titles!
