Well this CD is not all that bad but the songs tend to have the same melody without little variation but if you like that kind of pop/rock. I tend to call these type of recordings pop/rock because the vocals sound more like a pop song but the music is more rockish. I am not really into this type of sound but I can relate but she is no Avril Lavine but her music could be compared to artist in that catagory.

This CD is my first exposure to Coldplay and I am at a loss as to why all the fuss over this band. Then again if you enjoy mainstream, commercial music this is for you.
Soon after inserting the disc into my player I removed it to thinking I had selected a U2 disc in error. No error had been made on my part.
The same vocals, the same maddening I feel like marching drum beat, the same simpleton bass lines, the same lack of substance on the guitar. Plain and simple, a ripoff of a commercially successful band from the past.

I've had this album for a couple weeks now, and I can't stop listening to it. I'm finding that it has a lot more staying power for me than most albums seem to, due in large part to the narrative strain that runs through it as much as the genre-blending music itself. Obviously everyone who listens to an album like this will have a somewhat different response to it, but here are some my initial impressions of it:
The first song plays like a mission statement for the album, offering the fairly typical secularist ethical perspective that what some call "evil urges" are really perfectly natural and simply "a part of the human way", that "ain't evil if (they) ain't hurting anybody". The narrator (who seems to be an older version of the narrator ... Read More:

I've been a Matthew Sweet fan since day two (Altered Beast) and I must say this album is poor. It's got a good song base but without any kind of professional producing it sounds like an album full of demos, these songs belong on one of his many bootlegs (Supervixen, Superdeformed 1 and 2). Professional production is not a bad thing, in fact it's what pushed Sweet to the top with "Girlfriend" and "100% Fun". These songs likely won't receive any airplay, and that's a shame because the song "Let's Love" would do good on certain radio formats had it only been cleaned up a bit. The vocals on this album are laughable, I've met Matthew a hand full of times and have been to many of his concerts. I know his voice is not that high pitched. When Sweet sings "Sit ... Read More:

This album, yes I ordered the vinyl version, far exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed it through the first listen unlike some albums that require you to listen to it several times. I even caught the wife dancing around to the music.
The vinyl version also comes with a coupon to download the album digitally.
You can't go wrong with this, regardless of whether you order the CD or vinyl version.

I'm altogether dispirited
I've listened to this about 5-6 times all the way through, and not one song has made an impression
Read the lyrics - they're ok - I don't really care too much about lyrics. My favorite album by REM (Murmur) and I don't know the lyrics on most of my favorite songs on that (Radio Free Europe, Perfect Circle)
I am absolutely miserable. I mean, I'm still gonna listen to the group. I'll stick pick up the next album. But none of these songs are very good. There aren't really any strong melodies
Pete, you can do better! You played on Robyn's very good album Ole Tarantula for gods sake.
I can't imagine someone picking up this album and loving it. The first few times I listened ... Read More:

I am a huge fan of Linkin Park, and i was vastly dissapointed in the album as the sound was not LP worthy. I recognized maybe 2 songs that sounded like them, the rest seemed like political crap that I personally don't care about. I wouldn't recommend it and hope they get back to their sound on the next one.
