"One Step Closer" was a bad choice for a 1st single, artistically speaking; it sounded (and still sounds, IMO) generic as heck, to put it simply. I didn't feel a great desire to own this CD until I heard "Crawling" for the first time on the radio. After school I went to my local CD store and got it. Just about every song on this CD is great except for the one song. The CD opens with a harrowing melody and blasts off from there (then takes a very short break...). Very dramatic and melodic stuff, with interesting sonic touches.

This album is exactly that. There's not a lousy song on here, although I do get a bit tired of hearing the radio-staples. If you haven't heard it yet, you definitely should. What else can I say? It's all great. Moody, atmospheric, big, edgy, dark, light, mysterious! Well produced, better played. kthxbye.

Undertow begs for the listener to see, hear and especially FEEL what it is all about. From the lyrics, art and the music itself you receive an explaination on what Tool thinks about life, isolation, love disguised as sex, sex disguised as an oulet to understanding oneself, politics and disorder.
In the begining of the album you hear what sounds like someone hitting a bong (hookah for our eastern friends) ironic huh, the first track is intolerance and you hear that sound when in actuality it is a scuba divers lungs filling up with water and suffocating. But I digress eveyone has an opinion on Tools music and regardless if I agree with what people think or not opinions are useful. First, I gave this album 3 stars because I couldn't give it 2.5. I became a fan of Alkaline Trio when I was a freshman in high school when 'From Here to the Infirmary' hit the stands. I bought all of their previous albums shortly thereafter. From then until 'Crimson' the band has done nothing but impress. With this album, however, the band falls short of thier once powerful poems and deliver watered-down sentiments of restated themes. With a video in rotation on MTV2, a tour sposored by Hot Topic, and an album put out on Epic, it stands to reason that this album fails to reach the band's water line. Each album they have put out has progressed the band further. As a fan I would hate to think that this is where their growth gets stunted. I bought this album when it first came out and listened to it like crazy. I remember her singing "Zion" at the grammys and crying it was so beautiful. I say it's bittersweet because obviously it's about love and heartache and breakup's and makeups. But also because this was her only ablum for a few years until she came out with that Unplugged album which was even more deep and dark and sad, but great. I love her music , you can tell what she's going through with every track. All around great investment.

You know, I own every single Sister Hazel CD, and my favorites are still the first couple. I like the newer CDs, and I like many of the newer songs, but as a whole, I think the first couple of albums were stronger. I also love acoustic treatments of rock songs. I've heard many of these songs in what you would call "acoustic" formats before at live shows, but usually it was limited to Ken Block and a guitar...more of a solo breakout song while the band regroups backstage before the encore than an actual "acoustic" band set.

The Dropkick Murphys have singlehandedly given both punk and Irish music a much needed shot in the behind. If you haven't heard them, they sing a mix of original and traditional Irish songs LOUD complete with rock sentiment and yep, bagpipes.

"The Green Fields of France" penned by Eric Bogle will break your heart if you hear it sung quietly. This warrior's lament starts at the graveside of a fallen World War I soldier and tells of the senselessness of war. DKM changes the whole complexion of the song.

"Tessie" commemorates the love affair between Boston and the Red Sox. Could turn even me into a baseball fan.

Can you really be tongue in cheek when you're screaming lyrics? "Wicked Sensitive Crew" is wickedly funny.

Not being a big fan of Wilco's earlier work I am some what pestimistic when Wilco bring a new release. I have to say that since Foxtrot Hotel they just keep getting better and better. I am not going to name off great tracks on this album or put others down. It's just solid don't cherry pick the songs. Just let them play. I work in a Hair Salon and we play this album alot and every one ask who is this? No matter what age you are or what music you like this album is just good music and it speaks to you. Just buy it
