It's an understatement that Rage Against the Machine is probably one of the most profoundly radical rock groups to ever grace radio. Their debut self-titled album is pure rebellion against privileged power.
Although one could say that Rage Against the Machine takes their rage so far that they lack decent chord progressions, the loud chords actually contribute to their ferocious renegade rhetoric. Their first single, "Killing in the Name Of," is singer Zach de la Rocha's full-blooded attack against white elitist power. If anyone doesn't believe me, they should hear out Rocha as he shouts "Those who died are justified/Wearing their badge, they're the chosen whites!"
And the rage doesn't let up. Zach de la Rocha continues ... Read More:

Band of Horses is a band that you can easily fall in love with. Theyre all skinny bearded boys who sing in falsetto and play beautiful post rock country songs. However, this album, lacks the generosity that the previous S/T album gave. I would strongly urge you, reader, to listen to that one above this record.

Joe Baressi that is, Tool has David Bottrill produce Ænima, Salival, Lateralus and they are AMAZING! They switch (to keep things fresh...) to Joe Baressi for this album and the drums fall to the background as the guitar takes a step forward. Good decision? Decide for yourself, the tracks that actually have audible percussion are Vicarious, Jambi and some to some extent on Right in Two, hmm... best tracks on the album. Maynard does save a few of the other tracks but for god's sake bring back David Bottrill!
Awesome Album, Underpar for Tool, because of Joe Baressi.

Everytime I listen to this album it takes me back to my high school days. I recommend this to anyone who was a teenager in the mid to late 90s. If you enjoy this alum, I also recommend buying the music video collection dvd.

This is what American music is...carved from her island style and fused with her street savvy, this album shines with everything Lauryn Hill was and is, and what she represents is an undying, unyielding spirit which recognizes the best and the worst of society and turns it into something to which everyone can relate. With funky beats and sweet, sweet melodies!

John Mayer is such a _______ square. ANd he doesn't even like the Beatles. Just look at the picture of him on the cover.
Ha Ha. Poon.
You want anything good that's acoustic guitar? Get something by Nick Drake or Andrew Collins (or Mandolin, but close), Elliot Smith, Dave Matthews Band (as long as it's not everyday, ick), R.E.M. heck, the Beatles have an arsenal of wicked, beautiful acoustic guitars. He's retiring, by the way.

"Heavier Things" is John Mayer's second studio album which was released on September 9th of 2003. The style on this album is soft-rock, as this comes from a period before he transitioned into blues. The album consists of 10 tracks, including the Grammy award winning "Daughters". The title of the album appears to be an answer for those who criticized Mayer's music as being too light.
The album opens with "Clarity", a song for which the meaning is not all that clear, but in general it seems to be about Mayer's self-perception. The second track is "Bigger than My Body" which is about the frustration of not being able to accomplish in reality what one wants to do in their mind, and in particular relates to John Mayer's desire to write more meaningful ... I checked out The Swell Season at Bonnaroo this year and they blew me away with their rich and finely textured songs. This first album captures the same spirit, in a sonically richer environment. Highly recommended to any fan of fabulous songwriting and beautiful harmony and melody.

McMurtry one of the best singer/songwriters recording now and god knows there are a lot of great ones that come out of Texas. He can rock with the best and take a hit at some lame politicians at the same time. He is one of the few that isn't afraid to be political in his art. But it's not always the government that pisses him off, he tells stories about people in many walks of life and what life has brought them. This is just another fine piece of music from someone who already has a stable full of great music. I am waiting for a DVD-Live in '03 would do.
