The first CD takes the listener through "Hotel California," the title and leadoff song of the fifth album. This break is significant, for The Eagles became only the eagles with the loss of Randy Meisner and the addition of Joe Walsh. Firing Don Felder was also one of their dumber moves. Note that credits for "Hotel California" list Glenn Frey and Don Henley before Don Felder, indicating that they had more to do with writing the song than Felder, although in the credits on the original album Felder is listed first. In fact, Felder wrote all of the music himself, including the arrangements for each instrument. The stunning guitar duet that ends the song, in my opinion, represents the high point of their career.

Don't buy this for the Chicago set. Its ok, but lacks the brilliant Peter Cetera vocals. Earth, Wind, and Fire is the reason to buy and listen to this. The music and vocals are great and sound the same as they did 30 years ago. Way of the World is beautiful and they play all the favorites. One of the best music DVD's I own strictly for EW&F.

I love this CD. Her voice is awesome. Soothing after a stressful day. Nice to listen to while you drink evening tea. Kind of sweeps you away to a simpler time and place of honesty, if you let it. rp

I guess in this world of constant evolution from recording artists worth their salt it's no wonder that GBS opt for a transformation to pop music. Only, this isn't their first venture. After a few mediocre trips into popdom with "Sea Of No Cares" and "Something Beautiful" which were passable at best, GBS returned to what they do best on "The Hard And The Easy." The fantastic vintage of that record washed away the heartfelt homogeny that it's predecessors brought in. That being said, I relished the release of "Fortune's Favour", and even moreso that it was produced by wunderkind, Hawksley Workman! How can you lose with GBS and Hawksley Workman? Really good start for a "New" artist. Wild Horses is my favorite. Thats about what it took to drag me away from the stereo the first couple days of having this. Once it started getting a little too "heavy" I shuffled it inwith some "Norah Jones" {another favorite} they may both have that nostalgic "sound" but the "voice" sets them apart. Ray Lamontagne "Trouble" is worth the "effort". Snap it up while you can. The originality is "priceless".

This album has it all, big anthemic radio-friendly smashes, Dark, emotional and personal ballads and more catchy hooks than you can ever wish for! I was already a fan of Kelly Clarkson and was anticipating the release of Breakaway months in advance and even I couldn't have imagined anything this good. It's most definately one of those albums you can leave on and not skip any tracks and still find yourself singing along to every single track.
1. Breakaway - The opener, co-written by Avril Lavigne is anthemic and to be honest better live when the crowd sing it back but still a nice easy opener if a little decieving. Personally my least favorite on the album. 7/10
