I recently heard the song You and Me by Lifehouse and absolutely fell in love with it...no pun intended. It is such an incredible song and fun to play on a guitar, by the way. I bought the CD because of the song but enjoy the whole thing. My favorite songs are You and Me, All in All, and Better Luck Next Time. All my friends like this group too...we blast it in the car.

Honestly, the John Butler Trio has not gotten the stateside welcome that they deserve. In fact, "Sunrise Over Sea" was one of the best jam band releases to date. And it almost didn't get airplay in the United States.

Thus, the John Butler Trio is back to jam again with their third album, "Grand National," which is a delightful funk/roots band masterpiece.

With all the funk guitar riffs that John Butler pulls off, one can now officially call them the Red Hot Chili Peppers of the jam band scene. In fact, with the coolest banjo and electric guitar licks in the song "Gov Did Nothin'," John Butler is on fire.

The one good thing I can say about this CD is that it retails for 18.99 and I only paid 9.99. I wish I could give it a half star for that. This is a far cry from the brilliant songwriter of the past three decades. Sad.
If they printed lyrics on CDs, I would have dropped this one back in the bargain bin where it belongs. The lyrics read like a page from the radical left's playbook. We humans are a "blight" on the earth and men are evil because, you know..."Men love war." Can you imagine her sitting in her VERY expensive home, looking out on the very beautiful view and writing this? Simply awful. At least she didn't title the disc "...and Bush sucks!"

Buy this one for all your teenage daughters. Avril Lavigne is one tough cookie and doesn't compromise her ideals/morals for anybody (at least in the songs).

Every song is a gem. There's not one that I find myself reaching for the "skip" button. Heck, they could all be hit singles (I think most are).

I'm not getting into each individual song... Just buy it. I've been listening to it in my car for almost a month.

First off, Supernatural is not *just* a Santana record. It's more of a mix between Santana, his band, his collaborators and sometimes the producers. It's really a great sounding record all around, and despite it's mainstream trappings, I found pretty much all the songs good (not awesome or great, mind you). I'll tackle the album in it's two different faces: The more traditional (though this one is far from the traditional Latin music it seems) songs (give or take), or the less traditional, latin-pop songs.

Enya sitting on a golden throne?
A little pretentious I think.
Enya conquered the world with Sheppard Moon and Watermark.
I think she got too cocky and careless with this one.
She tried to replicate the sound of those albums and comes up short.
The disc comes across and dull and uninspired.
I was hoping the next disc would be a return to form.
Sadly, Enya seems content to make the same album over and over and over................. each one as unmemorable and uninspired as the one before it.

I recently enjoyed watching her growth in self assurance as Brooke White performed weekly on 2008 American Idol. Her Songs From the Attic CD is the beginning of a wonderful career. It is soothing to me as I drive or at home when I'm using it as background for my projects and activities. Anyone who liked her on Idol will like this CD.

Undiscovered

I saw a grainy video of James Morrison playing "You give me something" and was so impressed by the truthful emotion in which he sang that I purchased "Undiscovered" by chance. I sometimes will make music purchases of new artists that impress me just because I want to be one of few that "discover or find" them. I was right. Morrison's music is touching. His voice, combined with his emotion create a wonderful listen. His music seemed almost immediately "familiar", although uniquely new. I let others take a listen and they too were enthralled and became fans. I found him and others will soon too.

I really enjoy listening to this CD. The radio doesn't play nearly enough Tracy Chapmans songs. I have only ever heard 2 played on the radio and I listen to a wide variety of music. I'd say that I definitely got my moneys worth. And as always the delivery time was excellent.

Gavin DeGraw has an amazing voice. I'll start with that. He is incredibly talented, both as a singer and a songwriter. The only reason I give this cd four stars and not five is because it's not super memorable. I listen to a lot of music and whenever I stumble upon this cd, I'm pleasantly suprised. He has an incredible style that puts his breathtaking vocals against dramatic forceful melodies. A good number of his songs have the same relaxing rhythm. Overall this cd is great, I would reccommend buying it if you like anything along the lines of....hmm comparisons are hard, buy it and find out. (Also, I would definitely reccommend this stripped version for the extra couple of bucks)
