A reviewer below has made a mistake, or his review was misfiled: This compilation is not to be confused with "King of the Delta Blues SINGERS." THAT is the compilation which contains the alternate take of "Traveling Riverside Blues." It and its companion, "King of the Delta Blues Singers, Volume 2" also have much better mastering than any other Robert Johnson collections that I am aware of. Unfortunately, between them, ten alternate takes have yet to be upgraded from either mastering of the "Complete" collection.
I have not heard "King of the Delta Blues"--I am basing this information on the song sample Amazon has provided. But given the song lineup, this is a confusingly unnecessary product.

I picked this up at a Border's that was getting rid of its cd's. Everything was half of half, and I just figured even if there were two or three cuts worth listening to, it would be a bargain. Boy was I wrong! This double disc set is all worth listening to. The traditional disc is more my cup of tea, but this cd is an explosion of sound that will make you want to hear it over and over again. Great compilation.

Bill Gaither often says that if Christians can't get along on earth what are they going to do when they get to Heaven where they HAVE to get along. This is one of the favorite Gaither Homecoming dvd's. It exudes pure joy and is very funny. Actually it has the best humor of all the dvd's in my opinion.
Those of you who know your Bible remember that Shadrach, Meschah & Abednego (I hope I spelled them right) were put in the fiery furnace because they would not bow to the King. But they did not burn and there was a fourth man in the fire (Obviously God). Bill Gaither and crew develop a skit called the "Fourth Man" with Tim Lovelace, Jake Hess, Rex Nelon, George Younce, Willie Wynn. It is hilarious. At first you think Bill is ... Read More:

This is my favorite Van Morrison album by a very long shot. I got it in summer 2006 (the best summer of my life thus far), and despite the fact that I only picked it up in the last week of August, it quickly became an integral part of my soundtrack during that wonderful summer, along with A Love Supreme and The Velvet Underground and Nico (two other masterpieces). But it's not just nostalgia that determines this my favorite Van album. It's also the strength of the songs. And the wistful lyrics, which paint a clear portrait of Van's youth in Belfast, Ireland. And the music, a combination of jazz, R&B, and folk. And Van's vocals. He sings like a man possessed on several of these tracks.
If you're a Van fan, you've probably heard several stories ... Read More:

This album is one of the greatest post-World War II Country Blues recordings. There is not a bad track on this cd. Furry's version of "John Henry" is the definitive take on the hundred-plus year old song. There is a beautiful echo present on this cd that I haven't heard on any other disc. The slide playing is impeccable and the lyrics are of great meaning. This album, "The Complete Recordings of Robert Johnson", and the JSP Blind Willie McTell box set are three of the best items a Blues fan can buy.

It may seem odd, but Massachusetts-based Rounder Records has become the pre-eminent label recording the music of Louisiana. From such classic New Orleans artists as Professor Longhair, Johnny Adams and Irma Thomas, to Cajun stalwarts D.L. This budget priced double CD features these artists, as well as Marcia Bell, Champion Jack Dupree, James Booker, The Balfa Brothers, Jimmy C. Newman, Buckwheat Zydeco, Beausoleil and others, making this one of the finest and most comprehensive colllections of Louisiana music available.

Duckman's problems with Kelly's '06 CD just seem to be the duck/rabbit thing. It is a matter of perspective. I have always thought of him as much as a high quality esoteric poet as a guitar master. Kelly is at the Aquarium in Fargo tonight, and I ought to get going. Hope the smoke doesn't kill us.
