I first saw these guys live in the 80's at the Hollywood Bowl, and they rocked the place. They opened for Bebe and Cece Winans and I did not want them to leave! I saw them again live a few years later in Anaheim on a rotating stage. They have remained good all this time. This album is one of their best. I highly recommend it.

I acquired this cd a couple of weeks ago and have not been able to take it out of my cd player since. This is a quality recording of a wide variety of choral literature, all of which Conspirare performs marvelously. A truly wonderful arrangement by Conspirare's own conductor, Craig Hella Johnson, "Hard Times" is actually one of my favorite tracks on the entire cd, the gorgeous soprano solo and the powerful climax never fail to give me chills. Also noteworthy is the stunning performance of the increasingly popular Ticheli piece, "There Will Be Rest." Almost all of the literature on this disc is very good, and it is all breathtakingly sung by Conspirare.
The only track I didn't like was the unbearably tacky arrangement of "Deep River." ... Read More:

This is easily my favorite Album by the Persuasions. The song selection and delivery are excellent. The arrangements are melodic. I play this one over and over. Buffalo Soldiers reminds us (African Americans) of how brave our ancesters were in the face of horrible circumstances and situations coming out of the grip of slavery. If you enjoy Accapella singing check this out.
Release Date March 10, 1992
This is a great recording of some of Ralph(pernounced "RAFE")Vaughn Williams best work. But it is not the best you can find. For the english folk song suite, i highly recomend the recording of Neville Marriner and Academy of St.Martins in the fields. For the Lark ascending the recording of Midori and the New York Philharmonic can't be beat. For "O Clap your hands" and "O Taste and See" this is the best recordings. Except that the Kings choir could work on the diction.
Release Date October 25, 1990
The Kings Singers are great, and this is probably my favorite of their CDs. No too-catchy tunes (like "What shall we do with a drunken sailor" on the Annie Laurie CD). Just terrific music, sung very well.

As I sit here and do work on my computer, I am listening to the sweet sounds of Kenny Vance and the Planatones. I had ordered 4 CDs and they are all perfect for that quiet, background sound that I need when I am working. When there is a song that I REALLY like, I stop work, turn up the volume and just sit back and listen. Ooops, here comes one now, so I gotta go and listen. I love Doo Wop so much and Kenny delivers the soft, sweet sound of those yesteryears that bring back so many memories. Just give a listen!
Release Date January 21, 1997
'Gyorgy Ligeti Edition 4' composed by Gyorgy Ligeti and performed under the direction of Esa-Pekka Salonen is at least as entertaining as the second title in this series, even if it does not include any of Ligeti's works which were used on the sound track of '2001'. Like his 'a capella' works, this disk shows a great range of styles, going from central European folk dances to some phrases which sound as if they are being done by the Limelighters!. To the voices, the instruments add a lot of pops, whistles, and hoots which are beyond the range of the human voice, but the human and the mechanical sounds meld well to produce a really enjoyable sample of modern music.
Release Date July 06, 1999
This is definitely not what I expected in a classical music tape, but still a surprisingly enjoyable to listen to. I bought it for my 4 year old who loves to listen to what he calls "kid's songs" and hoped that it wouldn't totally annoy my older children. This one is a winner, though, ALL the kids (ages 2 to 11) really like it. Bobby McFerrin's Music Box is really quite amazing and you appreciate his talent the more you listen to it (although I would never have guessed this was classical music.) The water music rendition is equally fun. My only complaint is that Gerald McBoing is waaaay too long, but still it fascinated the kids so I guess it's worth it! The variety of music contained on the tape keeps it fresh.
Release Date July 12, 2005
I bought this CD on a whim after watching a PBS special on Sweet Honey in the Rock, and absolutely love it. The group has an amazing, cohesive, in-tune sound. Buy this CD for "Ship of Zion", "Harry Moore", and "Women Gather". A must have!

The nylons are incredible performers who do a superior job of reproducing some of the favorite songs from the past in a cappella form. If you love songs like Happy Together or Kiss Him Goodbye you will find the renditions from the Nylons to be a must!
