When one hears the compositions of W.S.Gilbert(1836-1911)and Sir Arthur Sullivan(1842-1900) with it's clever and satirical humour, its hard to believe that their collaberation ended with an argument over a carpet which had been ordered for the Savoy Theatre, built specifically for the performance of their works. After that they each disappeared into obsecurity, but not before they had given us marvelously written music which combined Gilbert's plots full of savage attacks on pomp and sham that perfectly complimented the humour and beauty of Sullivan's music.

My husband I listen to this album all the time. It always lift us up everytime. My husband can listen to this album for hours, playing it over and over again. It creates in him a peaceful and uplifting feeling.It has the same effect on me, too! We really love this album. ONE OF THE GREATEST IN ALL HISTORY!!!! They should make more of these type of music! To the group....GOD BLESS!

Although my favorite ever KS CD was the Beautiful Dreamer one, this was also pretty good. Even though I agree that it's not the best recording they have with regard to quality, I like how they've given these classic movie oldies their own unique twist. I would never have listened to most of these songs if not because they were sung by the King's Singers; however, I've fallen in love with quite a few. One thumbs-up!

This is the album I've been waiting for from Acappella. The guys in this lineup bring back the younger side to Acappella, making it reminiscent of the George/Wayburn days. The beats are fresh, but they're mixed in such a way that you can tell it's vocal percussion. This, I think, is one of the greatest strengths of this album. The incredible skills of Tony Brown bring a raw, street-corner-singer quality to the album. The lyrics are deep and personal.
War with Myself - This song really sets us up for the whole tone of the album. With introspective and thoughtful lyrics and a nice low-key groove, this is one of my favorites on the album.
Dust in the Wind - The classic Kansas tune is reborn here, but the original isn't lost in this A Capella style favorite. ... Read More:

Might as Well...The Persuasions Sing Grateful Dead

Purchased this for my son who is a big fan of the Grateful Dead and has a major collection of their tunes. He loves it. The CD is no longer produced therefore the cost is much more than the original list price and is very difficult to obtain.

The Bobs Cover the Songs of...

This is their 6th album (1994). It's not in the group of their first four albums that are simply stunning (s/t, My I'm Large, Song for Tomorrow and Sing the Songs of). I've wondered why I don't listen to this covers album of theirs as much as I do their first one. Well, it's simply because they don't get the groove thing going nearly as often here.

Yes, 'White Room' and 'Wind Cries Mary' are marvelous. It helps that I'm a huge fan of both those bands so hearing virtually any clever cover of them makes me happy and, in fact, these are the two strongest interpretations on the album. As is typical of the BOBS after their first four albums, there's always something great on every album, problem is, this is about it here.
