The Acappella Company has produced some very listen-able music through the years and their albums have become a central part of my library. This is the one best album they have given us. All the music here is consistent, with no weak songs on the disc. The message is there wrapped in a richly sung wrapper that virtually any Christian/truth-seeker will find soothing and fun to listen to. I strongly recommend you get this album and add to it to feel the energy of vocal harmonies without instrumentation, other than the human soul! God is standing by, so "HUSH", don't you worry, don't cry!!!

CLEVER ARRANGEMENTS-HUMOUR AND WIT-TUNEFUL MELODIES-AND SINGERS THAT FIT!!!!
When one hears the compositions of W.S.Gilbert(1836-1911)and Sir Arthur Sullivan(1842-1900) with it's clever and satirical humour, its hard to believe that their collaberation ended with an argument over a carpet which had been ordered for the Savoy Theatre, built specifically for the performance of their works. After that they each disappeared into obsecurity, but not before they had given us marvelously written music which combined Gilbert's plots full of savage attacks on pomp and sham that perfectly complimented the humour and beauty of Sullivan's music.
Every facet of G&S's music appears on this disc: the lyrical 'Brightly Dawns Our Wedding Day', ... Read More:

One of the most pleasing recordings I have ever heard. I don't normally like singing without musical accompaniment (a cappella), but the voices are like musical instruments themselves. Great music to meditate (and pray) by. The other recordings by this Chorale are also superb.

Over time even traditionally great choirs vary in their excellence, so in recent years the choir of St. John's College Cambridge has a sound that is again at its apogee. Choirmaster Christopher Robinson (now, alas, recently retired from St. John's) has nurtured a choral brilliance that reminds me of the years when George Guest directed the choir. It is a delight to see that the great tradition of men and boys choirs still resounds in the Anglican Church (at least in many of England's 'Collegiate' and Cathedral choirs). St. John's is one of two ancient male voice chapel choirs at Cambridge University (the other being King's College Chapel Choir) in which the boy trebles are actually in a sense 'professionals'. Each college, in whose chapel they sing daily ... Read More:

This is one of the most engaging CDs I own, and am thrilled to see it available on Amazon for only $8.99! Introduced to Zap Mama through some dance show on television, this CD has become my default driving music for long trips.

This is the album I've been waiting for from Acappella. The guys in this lineup bring back the younger side to Acappella, making it reminiscent of the George/Wayburn days. The beats are fresh, but they're mixed in such a way that you can tell it's vocal percussion. This, I think, is one of the greatest strengths of this album. The incredible skills of Tony Brown bring a raw, street-corner-singer quality to the album. The lyrics are deep and personal.
War with Myself - This song really sets us up for the whole tone of the album. With introspective and thoughtful lyrics and a nice low-key groove, this is one of my favorites on the album.
Dust in the Wind - The classic Kansas tune is reborn here, but the original isn't lost in this A Capella style ... Read More:

Although my favorite ever KS CD was the Beautiful Dreamer one, this was also pretty good. Even though I agree that it's not the best recording they have with regard to quality, I like how they've given these classic movie oldies their own unique twist. I would never have listened to most of these songs if not because they were sung by the King's Singers; however, I've fallen in love with quite a few. One thumbs-up!

I would not recommend this CD for people who are new to choral music, but it is definitely a valuable addition to the collection of any professional in the choral field. The performances as well as the recording quality are every bit what one would expect from this extraordinary ensemble. The major highlights on this recording, to me, are the Barber pieces and the Ives.

Purchased this for my son who is a big fan of the Grateful Dead and has a major collection of their tunes. He loves it. The CD is no longer produced therefore the cost is much more than the original list price and is very difficult to obtain.
