This work really puts the Gospel to life. I've read many of these passages before, and with the music behind it the Word totally spoke to my heart. We need more of this especially with JP2's voice. So soothing, loving and totally lifts me up to the Father in Heaven.

The other reviews posted here say it all. This collection is extraordinary. I bought it because it includes "I'm bound for Canaan Land" by Silas Steele and the Famous Blue Jays, which I had in vinyl and consider to be among the greatest vocal performances on record. The rest of the collection is superb, including rare recordings by R.H. Harris as the original vocalist for the Soul Stirrers and so much else. For $25 you can't find a better set of music--4 full-length CDs of glorious music.

Someday, Quentin Tarantino will discover (or rediscover) this great unheralded soul dynamo and pluck her from obscurity by featuring a song or two of hers in one of his films. I can say this with gleeful assurance because this is precisely the kind of music he seems to love rescuing from the dreaded Bargain Bin Of The Arcane: plenty funky, abundantly sassy, deep southern soul with a side of wounded vulnerability. Just as Dusty Springfield's "Son Of A Preacher Man" bewitched a whole new generation after "Pulp Fiction" premiered, it is entirely foreseeable that "I'm Just A Prisoner" and "Love Chain" will eventually grace the opening/closing credits of his inevitable women-in-prison movie.
