I waited 10 years for this??? seriously..."The Rip" (ironic song title) is as good as it gets??? I never would have thought that Thom Yorke would make Beth Gibbons irrelevant...it looks like i am keeping my Radiohead and losing my Portishead...or at least this release...see you in another 10 years...

When Moby first started out, he was a talented techno-induced DJ. Although I don't really care for techno, his early music is still quite unique from other techno 'artists'.

But this isn't techno, not going back to early Moby, as some think of it. This album is lost in the expansive catalogue of songs and ideas Moby has created in a relatively short period of time. It's uninspiring, dancey pop music that mimics older pop styles (basically you're listening to 30-40 years of dancey pop music thrown together).

JUST RECENLY I VISTED MY FAMILY IN SANTA BARBARA PREPARING FOR OUR FAMILY REUNION THE NEXT MORNING I PUT IN JAZZMASTERS 11 VERY LOW SETTING IN THE LIVING ROOM.

Este proyecto, liderizado por el mega-productor Gustavo Santaolalla, sale a la venta en USA varios meses despues de haber visto la luz del dia. La espera valio la pena, por cuanto la nueva edicion contiene tres temas mas que el original. El ensamble Argentino-Uruguayo sigue revetando la liga con su mezcla exquisita de ElectroTango que tanta falta nos hace: bandoneones se intercambian con baterias, bajos y voces. Juan Subira, Gustavo Cerati, Julieta Venegas, Elvis Costello y Nelly Furtado destacan entra los vocalistas que le dan a este album un toque un tanto diferente a los anteriores.

Altamente recomendable para los fanaticos del genero, asi como seguidores del chillout, lounge y todo el material genial que sale del coco de Gustavo Santaolalla.

With each release, Ratatat has further pushed the boundaries of modern instrumental music. In their first album, Ratatat, they introduced their sound, causing people to wonder "Is it electronic, video game-style music? Is it rock?" It's both! With Classics, they refined that sound, and indeed made a 'classic' album chock full of catchy tunes and interesting soundscapes. The beats on this album are awesome, it's like they came through a rip in reality from an alter-universe. The lyrics are alright, they are too unhappy for my taste, Beth's voice is wonderful though.

Imogen Heap has a beautiful voice. This album is filled with songs that highlight that voice without seeming to overwhelm you with it. The album is enjoyable listening to as a whole or focusing on a couple of songs. It stands up to repeated listening, which is more than can be said for much of the popular radio fare.
