Ready, Aim, FIRE! Ready, Set, ATTACK! You see, these were the first words that came up to my mind the first time I listened to Soulfly's Conquer CD/DVD set. It's fast, aggresive, and a good ol battle attack, it's just like you are ready for a brawl! Once you are at a pit in a Soulfly gig, ooh boy! (believe me, I have seen it with my very own two eyes) Needless to say it is ON!
Every track spits fire in its own way inlcuding the bonus tracks of the Bad Brains and Marilyn Manson covers, they nailed it good!
The DVD gets even better as you start to view it, although they do not perform any of the Conquer tracks in it, since it was filmed and captured live in 2005 in Warsaw, Poland. Outstanding material, Soulfly! Well, of course ... Read More:

This DVD is OK but definitely not a must have. If you like LOG, fine. If you're semi-fan, don't even go there and buy it. Cheap production overall, not worth the money. Sure, there are 2 DVDs so you may perceive it to be a good deal but the second DVD is the one you already own if you bought Sacrament Spc. Ed.

Listening to them bitching about touring conditions gets annoying after a while. Well it's metal you're playing, if you want thefancy hotels with superb logistics at concerts, convert to orchestra.

The music on this album is fantastic. In my review on As Blood Runs Black I said: "Some artists are such amazing musicians that they can screw originality and they can play other people's original ideas twice as well as the original artist. This is what As Blood Runs Blacks does for the first 4 songs." This is basically what As I Lay does, except for the entire frickin' album! There isn't a song on the entire album that I don't like. I felt the same thing about August Burns Red. Both albums are amazing at keeping my interest for the entire album. Their lyrics are also very good. I stumbled upon this album on accident, and I'm damn glad I did. I checked out their back log of albums after hearing this album; and while both their prior albums are gems, this album is their best so far. The album defies any single particular genre of metal; IE power or death metal, but rather has a mix of...everything. Scar Symmetry is similar to Into Eternity or Opeth in that their songs are everywhere but they manage to make it work. As in they REALLY work. That's where the similarities end though. This is one of those rare bands that doesn't sound like anyone. Everything here works - the violent shifts from melodic to crushing, the savage growls, the sing-along choruses, the heavy riffs, everything.

The fact that this album is associated with a cartoon is completely irrelevant.

If your soul craves the blissful abuse only brought about by hard, HARD music, the answer is Dëthkløk.

To put it bluntly, Dëthkløk, AKA Nathan Explosion, et.al., AKA Brendan Small et.al., found the balls Metallica lost blowing their 'Load', skewered them with a sottering iron, fed them to a summoned Kraken, and road the Kraken to kick Metallica's A**.

All while Old Man Dio watched through moistened eyes and clapped his hands in glee.

If you like Metal, you'll love Dëthkløk.

I must say that I enjoyed this DVD/2CD live a lot. So let me just say what I did NOT like about it and why I did not give 5 stars:
- First of all, and mostly important, I was expecting a slightly better sound. OK... it is still an amazing production. The vocals (4 singers!!!) sound fabulous and the bass and drums are really POUNDING! But there are many times where the guitars sound rather "weak" and further back in the mix. This lacks the power a metal sound should have. With a little more attention in the guitars, the whole thing would have sounded 10 times better. But maybe this is just my personal opinion.

I read the negative reviews and have to say that I don't think we have the same cd. This is a great rock and roll album. If you happen to love stoner rock/metal, you certainly aren't going to hear anything new. BUT, you aren't going to hear anything really new or different in the whole genre. This music is for people who like this kind of music. Don't allow a music snob to make the call for you, hear them yourself.

valhalla!!!! the hairy gods of modern metal have arisen from the nordic slumber of one thousand years. and they have done so with a mighty vengance and the hammer of thor. all imitators and false prophets beware. there will be no escape from the final judgement to be handed down like a thunderbolt from the dark and brooding skies. guitar riffs and and hellhounds abound in this bombastic expression of male libido and ego. four stars for technicality and raw power. the darkness will be touring with metallica in a city near you. enjoy the show!

Im not sure what the dissers of this record expected, Max has been pretty much making the same record over and over again for Soulfly, (i like them by the way) but to expect anything really NEW would be odd. But in my opinion this is the best thing either of them have done since Max left sepultura! I enjoy every song on this album, each one his a headbanger or moshpit lovers dream, its full force from beginning to end, with out the experimental stuff that fills out most Soulfly albums. Its really a back to basics metal thrash album. Simple truth, if you like Seplutura, Soulfly, you'll find something to like here, maybe even more like i did.
