What the heck is this? This is pop music with a faint sound of rock in the background. This is NOT Metal like what we're used to hearing from Disturbed. In short, I am disturbed by what I'm listening to. Please, band, don't go on this path in the future. You will lose a lot of dedicated fans who've been with you from the beginning. I hate to say it, but David Draiman went soft. If you want an excellent Disturbed album, get the one that came out before this one, Ten Thousand Fists. Now THAT'S a Disturbed album. RAW METAL. I like Ten Thousand Fists as much as the Believe album. Every bit as good. Stick to these two, and if you want, Down With The Sickness. That's a good album as well. Certainly a heck of a lot better than this one. Even that album ... Read More:

...judging by the fact that one of the most helpful reviews of this album is a negative one my assumption was either Slipknot went through a big change of style or they just mellowed out so much these supposed "maggots" just got bored and listened to IOWA all over again...surprisingly what I found was a lot of maturity from this band...they may have lost some of that edge that made them stand out...but in my opinion the style they have adopted now is much more complex if slightly more structured...but it's a very mixed bag...
.execute. 7/10: I tried to find a sample of this track and I got Rick-Rolled...it was hilarious...overall this is your usual bog-standard short Slipknot intro track with lots and lots of random sound effects shoved ... Read More:

I still remember when their self titled album came out. That one to me was a great album. Although there were some weaker songs towards the end, they were still pretty good. I must admit I never gave Time bomb or 15 their proper listens. Something I regret with Time bomb. After listening to them again recently I wish I have given Time bomb more of a listen. I have to say that I was disappointed in 15. It seemed to go in a softer direction, and the songwritting wasn't as strong, although I did like the little bit of experamenting they did. That leads me to this one.
In some ways I'm impressed and others not so much. It kind of has a same old buckcherry sound; which felt a bit stale at first. After more listens this didn't bother me anymore. ... Read More:

When a band changes so much that it no longer even closely resembles its former glory we often hear the word maturation bandied about as the long suffering fans defend the suddenly discredited sad sacks they still listen to. Make no mistake about it, I am a music fan and as an artist myself I understand the need artists have to grow and evolve over time. But that is not what Staind have done.
After the success that came from the bands softer ballads of Break the Cycle it seems all Staind have left in them is one recycled power ballad after another. This is not maturation or evolution its pure stagnation. If you need any further evidence just look at who the band will be touring with--Three Doors Down and Nickelback for goddsake. Thats pathethic and so ... Read More:

The best way I can think of to describe the new album is classic 3 Doors Down with a new twist. That's one of my favorite things about this band is that you can see them grow as artists from one album to the next without detracting from they're previous work.
That being said, 3DD is by far my favorite of theirs so far. With other CDs, you have the singles and then you'll pick out a couple songs you like that were never released and then the rest are just fillers; with 3DD every one is amazing.
It starts off with a bang with 'Train', which is a bit more aggressive than the rest but sets the mood perfectly.
Next is 'Citizen/Soldier' which I actually liked but the version on the album is downsized from the original and they cut out my favorite part ... Read More:

Just to let the Amazon guy know, the Deftones didn't follow Korn into being, nor were they influenced by their music. If anything, Korn was influenced by the Deftones, who came together in 1989. Shows what Amazon knows.

I'm not much into speed metal, nu-metal or death metal. I like music that plays great and lyrics that make sense. After hearing Chop Suey and Toxicity, I knew I had to have this CD. Upon listening to the entire CD and comparing the lyrics and sheet music, I rated this as one of the best CD's to come along since Rush's Moving Pictures. As for it being catagorized as nu-metal, Amazon should replace who ever does that job. This is far from being nu-metal. It's more of a fusion of modern metal and progressive rock, leaning more toward the later. My suggestion is to add this to your collection. You won't be sorry.

I will admit I enjoyed the live show, they all sounded good and I found it interesting how they would trade off singing between the parts where lyrical switch overs were too close to cleanly transition. But the additional new songs they had on the CD... I wasn't impressed with any of them really, Until the end was semi-enjoyable but none of the rest really stood out. It just seems like those songs were probably left over choices from their recent self titled album that for whatever reason didn't make the cut. I hope whenever their next full-length album comes out that it does the band better justice.
Release Date November 10, 1992
Probably the only rap-metal album that honestly qualifies as any good, and definitely the most violently liberal album I've ever heard in my life. Not like I mind, of course. But if you don't agree with the politics, it'll probably hurt your enjoyment of the album. Enough of that, though. The point is that this band is awesome. Especially guitarist Tom Mollero, who comes up with brilliant riffs throughout and throws in all kinds of innovative, crazy solos that don't sound like they're coming from a guitar. The solo on "Killing in the Name" sounds like it could've came from a synthesizer, for instance. The stuff he pulls on "Take the Power Back" sounds like turntable work or something, his solo on "Bullet in the Head" seems a lot like a clavinet, and the squeals on "Fistful of Steel" could ...
