This is the Def Leppard album I've been waiting to hear since Retroactive. I think this is up their with Pyromania and Hysteria, which is something I though I would never say about another Def Leppard album again. I can honestly say there is not a bad track on the disc in my opinion and it just gets better with every listen. A perfect summertime CD, which won't be leaving my player for awhile. If you're a Def Leppard fan at all, then do yourself a favor and enjoy some of the best rock tracks of the year!

So the concept supposedly was the raucous behavior of the Saturday night (the night before) and then the melancholy Sunday morning after. It has a bit of a feel to that, but it turned out to not just be half up-tempo songs and half down-tempo. Instead, the Crows keep things moving along on this album. Even though I've read a good number of mediocre reviews, I decided to give this one a chance. I thought this might be the first Crows album I didn't buy.
After giving it a chance, I really came to appreciate what it was about. There is actually a small amount of filler on here and while there's no true "classic" song on here that jumps out, there's a nice consistency across all the songs that makes the album worthwhile. The first two ... Read More:

As a lifelong Snake fan, I was both worried and excited to hear the new cd. After one listen, the worry was gone and the excitement was doubled. Coverdale and his gang know how to rock, music is fun again! I think Got What You Want is the ultimate rocker and an instant classic. Hear The Wind Blow rocks and the slower End of Time will be around for a long time. Not any filler going on here. The guitars are smokin' and if you like to have fun listening to music, run to buy this cd and you will not be disappointed!! Can't wait to see them live!

Shine a light, is the soundtrack of the movie with the same name. I didn't see teh movie yet, but as a Stones fan, I have to buy this record. But in a collection it is not essential, there is nothing new!

This CD has none of the fire that their earlier work had. It's very well done, very professional, but it lags and drags. Almost like an album of ballads...

I really admire both Sheryl Crow and Bill Botrell so i thought it was cool to hear that they collaborated on this album. Like Stevie Nicks to his Lindsey Buckingham, Rickie Lee Jones to his Tom Waits, anyway....my point is....these two are brilliant musicians. And Detours is brilliant. I think it is her best since her masterpiece, the Globe Sessions. I hadn't been listening to Crow for awhile and when i heard the first two songs, it was like seeing an old friend. What great sounds, words and images. That's enough, just get it!

Rush used to put out a live album after every 4 studio albums, making a nice bookend to an era's body of work. Their first live album, "All the world's a Stage", for example, captured a live performance of their first material, and then Rush headed off in a new musical direction. The next live album, "Exit Stage Left", did the same thing. The same is true for "A Show of Hands" and "Different Stages". I always liked that approach. (I don't know if they did that as deliberately as they seemed to. I know that they originally planned to do a live album right after "Permanent Waves", which would have meant that "Moving Pictures" would never have existed.)
Lately, though, it seems like Rush puts out a live album at the drop of a hat. They regrouped in 2002 ... Read More:

What a great lp It tops most of there lps . What a swan song for the Boys, Just if they stayed together for a few more years wow.
Release Date 1987
This classic, historic album is great to have in CD form--the booklet, with additional background material is a tremendous bonus. The songs all hold up with time, George Martin's genius as arranger/producer is overwhelming and certainly more diverse than Phil Spector, who later "Spectorized" them out of existence when there was no more left of the Lennon/McCartney team.
You can't buy this on iTunes, and you'll want all of the words to the songs, so whether it's for the instant nostalgia created by the song of the title of this review or the devastating brilliance of "A Day in the Life" that never fails to jar you, make sure this CD is in your collection.

It's pretty hard to beat the Beatles if you're into the oldies. The best part of this title is it's so complete and it brings back so many memories.
