Many reviews on Amazon -- and yes, myself guilty -- tend to lean towards fan-mail. You keep a watch out for your favourite artists, buy their cd's as they are released and write a review tell the world how truly fantastic the artist and music are. And by inference, your own taste in music. So let me start by saying that I do have a weakness for Lizz Wright. Don't expect a cool unbiased review. Her earlier albums have been spinning and spinning on my cd-player. Not just because of her voice, her phrasing and tone that she combines so beautifully and effortlessly. I love this CD. I became a fan last year, hearing his music for the 1st time. This new CD blows me away. It is one of the best I have heard in years. I love many different music genres, but this one beats them all hands down.

Though the singing is great and the instrumental pleasing throughout, this CD doesn't quite match the lofty standards set by his first two CDs.

But it is still a strong album and, after a few more listens, grew on me so much that it's now on constant rotation at my house. Highlights include "Listen," "Baby I want You," "What's Been Going On," and "Better Days."

Give it a try. It gratifies in a way most music cannot.

Back to black is so brilliant musically, both Amy's songs and her performance of them. The only weak spot is the use of needlessly explicit lyrics, for example in Me and Mr. Jones, "mockery" would have been so much more timeless than "f-ckery", and really would have made as much or more sense. The needless use of the f word grates a bit, and simply makes it impossible to play this song in public or in front of most audiences, and it's such a shame not to be able to play this musically brilliant song for one's kids.
Amy Winehouse is an absolutely amazing talent, her rapid descent into drugs and anorexia has been so heartbreaking. If only she can get free of the drugs, alcohol, and the severe anorexia (she now looks nursing-home thin, like a wire stick figure ... Read More:

when you're talking about slide-guitar greats, you have to include sonny landreth.
dwayne allman,george harrison,ry cooder,lowell george,robert johnson and roy rogers are among the best ever and i'm here to say that sonny is at the top of the list.
different styles i know, hard to say who's best?
not for me.
i think i've seen him and the goners live about 40 times or so(i lived in new orleans)and each time he's seems to just get better.
this new one is still growing on me,i'm not sure it's gonna be one of my top favorites yet.
hearing "south of i-10"(his sgt pepper), i thought he could'nt get better,but he is way out front of anyone else.

As a hardcore Mariah Carey fan, I was so very excited for this album. I had been waiting for it ever since I finished listening to her fantastic 2005 comeback album "The Emancipation of Mimi". Mariah herself said that this new album would be the dessert to the main course that was TEOM. Unfortunately, that's not true. This album is such a departure for Mariah...it's vapid, soulless pop-n-b. The beats are run-of-the-mill, the lyrics are sophmoric, and all in all, each song sounds like it could have been done better by Beyoncé. This is the worst album in Mariah's discography.
