It's great to notice that Alanis is back doing great rock music. I love Alanis's two first albums, and this "Flavors..." is a return to that great rock music it used to be. Already the opening track "Citizen of the Planet" tells that this album has to be good! It is so rocking and heavy. Also the radio song "Underneath" is very good! "Straitjacket" and "Version of Violence" are great rocking songs! If I didn't know that this album has been released in 2008, I would think it had been released after "Jagged Little Pill". "Not as We" proves that Alanis can also be very sensitive - it's a very touching song. Although there's many strong songs - I wouldn't say that this album is perfect - the song "Tapes" is the only one I don't like. It is a strange ... Read More:

I bought this CD just knowing it would be good because the Bare Naked Ladies made it and it was even better than I expected. Each song is unique and wonderful. My daughter loves it and it's an all around family favorite. We even listen to it in the car when she isn't with us! Must have!

Someone once said all the "it girl" singers live in fear that Alanis Morrissette will walk into the room. That still rings true. A beautiful voice, dynamic, yet subtle singing. Grab you by the throat lyrics. Alanis remains a cut above. She's been away too long. Check out "Madness" if you doubt her skill set. Thank you Alanis. Ryan's a fool!

How surprising to read the sort of indifferent reviews here. I would have loved them to make "More Apologies to the Queen Mary", too, but "At Mount Zoomer" is a terrific record. True, these aren't songs that are instantly catchy, though Wolf Parade is never going to get more catchy than "The Grey Estates", which almost sounds like early-80's Depeche Mode.
I'd say everything other than the dragging "Fine Young Cannibals" are great songs. They really do grow on you, and what I'm most impressed with is the level of musicianship here. Things that seem sloppy at first turn out to be subtle and clever. Boekner's songs have gotten much more carefully structured. "Soldier's Grin" in particular does a lot with a very little; when the opening ... Read More:

I was really looking forward to another Martha Wainwright release. This album disappoints on so many levels. It is not even comparable to her self-titled album that came out a few years ago. Her folksy sound is all but drowned out by electronic drum beats, strings and electric guitars. If her previous album hadn't been so good maybe I would have been a little more fair with the review of her latest one. I've listened to the album several times now and there really isn't a high point to remember. Boring.

ASKING FOR FLOWERS by Kathleen Edwards is an excellent CD. Is it country? I don't know. I usually don't like country music. But I love this CD! Thank you Kathleen; I could listen to this CD over and over (and I do!)

After seeing Rush on the Snakes & Arrows tour three times in 2007, I didn't think they could get any better. With a set list that included much of the new album and a host of favorites from the last 30 years, this live 2 CD set relives the magic of the 2007 tour.

This going to be another of Luis Miguels great albums. Im a big fan and i thought it was amazing. I can stop listening to it and the price was great have not seen a price like that anywhere.

It saddens me to write this review for a band in Theory of a Deadman that has produced some of my all-time favorite music. "Scars and Souvenirs" represents one of the wisest purchase decisions I have made in quite sometime in that I did not actually purchase it for myself; it was, rather, a gift for someone else, and therefore I had the chance to listen to it and decide if I wanted a copy for myself before actually buying my own copy.
The answer to that would be a definite "no." It pains me to write this, but there really were not three songs on this album that I liked. Two songs, that's it. "So Happy," while being far from original, is a decent tune, even with the blatant ripoff (or homage, depending on your perspective) of Alice in Chains ... Read More:
