I have this CD and a few others. Every now and then I like to check for new releases. What I would like to know is WHERE ARE THE TRACK SAMPLES???!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?? I listen to songs before I decide to buy, so if you want to sell a CD, then put them back.

I had been looking for this recording for years. I had purchased this back in 1974 on vinyl and wore it out. Since then it didn't seem to be available. Thankfully it is now via these mp3 downloads.

The arrangements are fiery, tight, complex as are the rhythms.

"Mambo Diablo" one of the Puente mainstay tunes is done here with a jazz muscular horn arrangement at medium tempo. It features Tito on vibes and solid soprano sax work. with a solid brass wall on the chorus. If you like Stan Kenton/Maynard Ferguson style arrangements you'll love this one.

"Ah Ah" - is a nice fashioned cha-cha, featuring punctuating brass and coro. It has a good solid groove.

Marc Anthony is one of my favorite performers anyway, but this album's selections are the best of the best of his songs. It will get you movng to the sensuous Latin rhythm and lip-syncing along with the lyrics.

Antes de comprar este DVD leí comentarios muy dispares acerca de él, algunos decían que era maravilloso y otro que muy malo y por eso me gustaría dar mi opinión. En cuanto a lo técnico, la imagen es excelente, el trabajo de cámaras y edición y la nitidez de la imagen todas merecen ese calificativo. La calidad del sonido es el punto bajo del DVD. Algunas críticas la defienden argumentando que uno no puede esperar un gran sonido si tiene un mal equipo y que el sonido grabado en vivo no tiene la misma calidad. Puedo garantizar que mi equipo es de magnífica calidad y no sería un factor limitante jamás y he oído otras grabaciones hechas en vivo de mucho mejor calidad de tal modo que esas defensas no me parecen válidas. This is not a complete set by any means but as the title says, it is essential in order to grasp the enduring career of Tito Puente if you are not familiar with his music or are just starting out. Its two discs cover a career by giving a sampling of his work from all periods, and of course featuring the popular favorites which may have drawn people to start to listen in the first place. I highly recommend this set for the individual who has no Tito Puente but would like a small collection of some of his best works. The sound quality is great and the songs are superb. Just TRY not to dance when you play these discs!
