I am a HUGH Madonna fan and I do listen to all kinds of music. Her last album, "Confessions..." I thought had a European feel to it,very house/trance-like sound. I loved the fact that she just completely switched it up and created a more hip hop feel to the Hard Candy album, she worked with Amazing Producers and Writers such as the WORLD renowned Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake, and switching her style from album to album does not make her a "Sell Out" it makes an amazing artist who knows how to target all kinds of audiences from different Genres, not too many artists have been as successful. I've been getting more into indie-type music lately, and Santogold's debut is excellent. It starts out with two more mainstream, radio-accessible tracks (L.E.S. Artistes and You'll Find a Way) which are completely awesome. Then afterwards the tracks get more into that counterculture flavor that I love. In short, really good catchy infectious groovy stuff! Recommended.

if you like this type of music then I think that you might like Crystal Castles better. I think the beats are much better, the vocals are more interesting and the creativity is just, overall, stronger.

ALSO - CC is on a non-RIAA label. If that matters to you. It does to me.

Just so you know, I received the album 2 days ago. And I've listened to every song at least 2x, my favorites even more.

Migrate 8.25/10 Used to annoy me. Should've used some other rapper other than T-Pain.

Touch My Body 9/10 Great song but overplayed.

Cruise Control 8.75/10 A nice rhythm to it. Composition is nice too. Melodic.

I Stay In Love 10.25/10 What else is there to say besides the fact that it blows Touch My Body out of the water and 95% of the other tracks also.

Side Effects 8/10 Great lyrics, average rhythm.

I'm That Chick 9/10 Very dance-able and vibe-ish. Nice Mariah. Nice.

First off, I admit to being a huge, long-time Prince fan. That being said, it's pretty hard to argue that this 'Very Best of' isn't a jammin' collection.
Starting off with 'I Wanna Be Your Lover' and working its way through 'Money Don't Matter 2 Night', this album (can I still use that word?) is a timeline of Prince's fun, sexy, rockin', jammin', preachin' career from "For You" (although no tracks off that first album are included) through "Diamonds and Pearls". And even though there are numerous tracks any fan might want to add to the mix, most all of the included tunes are vital to a 'hits' collection. (I might let you argue that tracks 13 and 17 could have been replaced with better choices, but that's the most slack I could cut. ;-)
