A day never passes that I don't hear that question from a customer (Where did you find that music?) in my shop. I play mostly bluegrass and this is one of the BEST!!

OK, imagine, if you will, an old wooden railroad bridge across a deep chasm somewhere in the wilderness. Two trains approach from the opposite directions: one is carrying a brilliant string quartet of the finest young classical musicians from the most demanding music schools. If you thought Dan's release, "Carry Me Across the Mountains" was a fantastic piece of traditional bluegrass work, you were right. If you expect "Wheels" to be of the same genre, you'll be very disappointed. "Wheels" is certainly not what I expected. There's only a couple of tradition bluegrass pieces on the whole CD. Musicianship is excellent but for me it was a disappointing buy. I think sometimes fantastic musicians wander around searching for new horizons but in that search they loose their roots.

Fast Paced World

I feel inadequate to review this album - I have a hearing loss which prevents me from noticing nuance, but the music is so exceptional I can hear between the lines. The Duhks are an eclectic mix of traditional and modern styles. "Mighty Storm" a traditional song is infused with modern instruments and yet maintains an old time sensibility. It is iconic of the band leading you into an old folk song in ways you have not considered.

Sarah Dugas, the lead singer, ably replaces Jessee Havey the former lead singer, bringing her distinctive voice to the album. Ms Dugas, maintains a distinctive style but you hear echoes of Macy Grey in "this fall" and Alicia Keys/Billy Holiday in "sleepin' is all i wanna do". This is one of the best, if not the best recorded concert out there. If you can find a SACD or LP copy if this, it is worth buying a record player or SACD player JUST FOR THIS. I'm not even kidding. However, the CD is still awesome. Just make sure if you upload it to your computer, do it lossless. This was recorded using the best mics out there with the audience recored also. Because of this, you hear some crowd noise with an absolutely "you are there" feeling. It's hard to explain, but there is a lot of air in this recording. It's like they recorded the whole atmosphere of the concert hall. I can't recommend this enough.

Now That I've Found You: A Collection

Alison's perfect and soft voice is exceptional! My favorite song on this album is "When You Say Nothing at All" so there was no hesitation in chosing this song for our wedding. As I walked down the aisle to start our beautiful poolside country wedding, Alison's perfect voice (in surroundsound) floated across the wedding guests, into lush green pasture and seemed to impact even the horses (or maybe the horses were just looking for their dinner). When I reached the rose-adorned wedding arch, I turned to see just about everyone with tears running down their cheeks - Alison's performance of this song really brought out the emotion in everyone. Remedy Club Tour Edition (CD+DVD)

This CD/DVD combo has tons of good stuff for the price of a regular CD. These are some of my favorite features:

-the whole concert in 5.1 surround
-the set list for this show is a great combination of songs from their last few CDs.
-the behind the scenes and "learn the songs" features are awesome for any musician. They all go into extraordinary detail on their setups, right down to walking through each pedal on their pedalboards! (for the guitarists). It's also great to find out about the more unusual instruments they have going on (i.e., toy robot, guitar hero controller, keytar, toy piano, etc.). Even for non-musicians, it gives you a great insight and appreciation for the music they make.
