Wow!!! A number of months ago someone emailed me the link to a YouTube video that showed Paul Potts' first appearance on "Britain's Got Talent" I was captivated as soon as he started singing, then got goosebumps and then got teary eyed. I thought to myself: "What the.....?? This is Opera, dude.....you hate opera!" Or at least I thought did...or was supposed to. No "manly man" would like Opera!! Paul Potts has changed my mind.

As I've grown older, I've embraced a broader expanse of musical genres. But until now Opera was boring. Until now. Gotta quit writing now and go put Paul Potts back on. Oh yeah, I purchased two additional Opera samplers from Amazon.

I know people revere Boult and Handley and Hickox as the best of all possible interpreters for British music, along with Groves and Barbirolli and all of the other artists presented here. So please don't take offense as I pick apart this box set -- because it's not as great as some other reviewers make it out to be. Others can tell you why it's good (and it has LOTS of good stuff). Let me criticize it a little. Or a lot.

First, the packaging. I'm getting really tired of these box sets (Elgar on EMI, reissue of Stravinsky set on Sony, etc.) that are missing biographies or descriptions of the works outside of a track listing. Is it so hard to reprint the liner notes from the original releases? Why on earth do they not include ... Read More:

I feel that Theo Bleckmann is a unique vocal artist. His voice as a transparency that floats on the air and doesn't clutter the music as written by the composers he selects to highlight. He has made a name for himself with several collaborative projects with Ben Monder. For my money, this work transcends them all. He brings a wonderful nuance and clarity to these works sung in both German and English. I highly recommend this disc as well as his disc recently released with Meredith Monk. You will not be sorry

Love Sarah Brightman, however, this CD doesn't have one song on it in English. While I enjoy a mixture of her other CDs that are bilingual, this entire CD consists of songs in other languages I don't understand. Very disappointing. Played it thru only once. Probably won't play it again. No speakers on my computer so I can't "test run" these. My own fault, I guess.

This is great CD. We love Vol. 1 but it was getting a little over played so we bought Vol. 2. It's THE best thing for a car ride. Especially with a fussy baby who hates cars.

The music on this cd is excellent. I would listen to it on my commute home from work, and it keeps me from getting annoyed with traffic. I would just focus on the rhythms and soothing sounds.

A Bride's Guide to Wedding Music

This CD sounds wonderful and I'll probably buy it just for the music. When my husband and I got married 23 years ago, I didn't want the "typical" wedding music. I bought an album with different songs, but it wasn't as extensive as this CD. The music we picked for walking back down the aisle after the ceremony was Beethoven's Ode to Joy. It was beautiful. Two couples who married later that year also used Ode to Joy. It was a nice compliment.
