Well all right, Jewel most likely decided to do country music this time because of the poor sales of her last cd, 2006's "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland". I have all of Jewel's cds, and I like her talent, but sometimes she's off the mark. "Perfectly Clear" is okay. It's no Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton or even Carrie Underwood. A good idea to utilize John Rich (of Big & Rich) to help produce, but the results just kind of lie there.
"Perfectly Clear" is unmoving all the way through. Background music. Average Jewel. A valiant attempt that didn't quite succeed, but also not a complete failure. The songs are pleasant, and they come and go without a second thought. After listening all week, I didn't feel there ... Read More:

I love Mark Knopfler music...I thought. What I love is his guitar, which apparently has been relegated to 40 seconds of low key filler at the end of each song.
The songs: pleasant to boring. Mark, for the love of Jesus, please find your guitar mojo and bring it back.

Her version of Wade in the Water and Over the Rainbow give me the chills. She is an amazing singer and I am so glad that I happened to hear this CD at a bookstore....and took the chance to buy it. It is uplifting, calm, relaxing music.

"Tumbleweed Connection" is a fantastic re-imagining of the American West by a couple of brilliant young British songwriters who had never been there. Other reviewers here have described the album, and if you think you are interested in Elton's breakthrough years, you need to have this. The songs are inventive, poetic, and rockin', and Elton's vocals and piano playing are superb. It's beautifully arranged and recorded, but more of a piano-based rock album than the self-titled album that preceded it. There isn't a bad song on it, and it may be Elton's most thematically unified work. In addition, since it never had a hit single, it is not as well known as most of his early works, so it is easy to listen to it with a fresh appreciation. (The least known ... Read More:

I grew up listening to gordon lightfoot. my father taught himself to play guitar and sing by playing and singing gordon lightfoot songs. I know almost every single song he ever recorded, and love all of them. this CD is one of my favorites, and I have it on my ipod and listen to it quite often. I am 22 years old, born in 1985 and I am a huge gordon lightfoot fan. my sister and I will listen to it over and over perfectly content- she is a year and a half older than me. I may be one of his youngest fans, but I love him!

It seems hard to believe now both as to the performer as well as to what was being attempted that anyone would take umbrage at a performer using an electric guitar to tell a folk story (or any story for that matter). It is not necessary to go into all the details of what or what did not happen with Pete Seeger at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 to know that one should be glad, glad as hell, that Bob Dylan continued to listen to his own drummer and carry on a career based on electronic music.
Others have, endlessly, gone on about Bob Dylan's role as the voice of his generation (and mine), his lyrics and what they do or do not mean and his place in the rock or folk pantheons, or both. I just want to mention a couple of points here. Any song that starts ... Read More:
