If you are into the "love is like oxygen" song with its awesome unique sounding guitar and beat, then there is nothing like having the original by sweet. In addition, this cd has "ballroom blitz", which I love by Krokus...I had no idea it was an original from Sweet, so when I heard it on this cd I really liked it, and the price....sweeeeter! LOL

Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1968 is yet another low priced CD that gives us great rock and roll hits from 1968. The sound quality is great and the artwork is as good as all the others in this CD series.
Archie Bell & The Drells start off the track list with their hit entitled "Tighten Up." This peppy number benefits from great horns, singing and percussion. Archie Bell & The Drells perform "Tighten Up" to perfection and they handle the tempo changes like the pros that they always were!
Listen also for "Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)." This psychedelic rock tune has some great music and John Fred & His Playboy Band do this one up right! John Fred sings this to perfection and it's a great tune for ... Read More:

There are some good songs on here, but not enough of them to make it worthwhile. I was just a kid when many of these songs were released, and at the time this was ground-breaking. I didn't remember Michael Jackson's voice being so high-pitched (gets grating after awhile), or so many of the songs sounding alike. My 4YO really likes it, though, and requests "her song" (ABC).

I grew up on the Partridge Family (way better than the Brady Bunch) and while I loved the show, it was the music that made the Partridge Family such a hit. Obviously, the Partridge Family is David Cassidy since none of the other case members (except for Shirley Jones on the show) actually sang. That's why I'm surprised to find "Let the Good Times in" and "Together (Havin' A Ball)" on this CD since David Cassidy doesn't sing on either of these 2 songs.
But nonetheless, this is a great collection for Partridge Family fans. With the possible exception of "Stephanie," all of the songs are great examples of sweet lyrics, great vocals (those amazing harmonies), and good time, finger-snapping, toe-tapping music. "Come on Get Happy" (the show's ... Read More:

I think this product is an outstanding offer, it allows some one to get various songs from various artists that can not be found in stores. I am happy I purchased the item. I think if more stores offered things like Amazon does there would be a chance for boosting the economy to keep rising inflation down.

JULY 2008 REVIEW: I purchased this particular box set a little over a month ago, and I must say: it does NOT disappoint. You really can't complain; although the box set was released several years ago, and therefore the early 1990's CD mastering here isn't necessarily as strong and powerful sounding as a 2008 mastering might be, the tracks presented here are bright and clear. Approximately 100 tracks fill out this 4-CD box set, and most of the songs are winners. And they are presented here in their original mono sound mixes as originally released (an apparent problem for some reviewers here, but I had no issue with it; the songs sound the same as they always have). I was certainly surprised upon listening, track after track, that I was familiar with almost every song on the ... Read More:
I am not an extremely picky audiophile; I can listen to 128k mp3's all day and they sound fine to me. But this is like nails on a chalkboard. Even the Monkees great music can't overcome the limitations of the awful engineering and "remastering" on this album.
From the get-go, the Monkees theme is totally flat, no bottom at all. It sounds like you are listening to AM radio. The rest of the tracks are all over the place, from bad to worse. There isn't a single track on this album that I can even stand to listen to.
I can't believe that this was worked on by anyone who knows anything about music engineering or mastering. It obviously wasn't. The engineer(s) should be fired for doing this kind of work.
