I have heard all the songs on Insomniac and Dookie and loved them.When I got this I was expecting kind of the same music but got totaly different and I like it.They kinda got away from their punk roots but that's fine by me.I love all the songs on here.The only song that I could live without was Rock and Roll Girlfriend segment on Homecoming.My personal favorite song on the album was either Holiday or Saint Jimmy.The lyrics are sometimes hard to understand because of his accent but you can always go on google to see what they are.The guitar,drum,and backup singers all are very talented and do a fantastic job.Recommended to any Green Day fan.

.... thats what you must have if you dont grab this OUTSTANDING cd. only wish I had spotted it years ago, what a great set of tunes!!! A lot of bang for the buck.

I am not the biggest of Talking Heads fans, but I do like much of their work. Yet, this is the one Talking Heads video or album you must have. The concert is really cool and I love when David Byrne(sp?) leaves the stage to the remaining members of his band to do a few as the Tom Tom Club. If you need pyrotechnics and laser lighting to enjoy a show...this is not for you. But, if you appreciate an artist and want to see his interpretation of his music.....here it is. I have given this one as gifts to those that wouldn't buy it themselves. They have always been glad to have it in their collection.

This album is a 90's masterpiece. I'm so tied of "true" punk fans that whine about Green Day not being punk enough. They combined perfect melody with fast punk riffs better than anyone. People will still be listening to this album 20 years from now.

Blondie - Greatest Hits

An excellent and quite a complete portrait of Blondie's career, not only highly recommended for newcomers (who will get to know the most important reference for all of today's female pop super-mega-stars...), but also quite a good compilation for those unconditional fans as all the songs here have been carefully remastered, providing a new cristal-clear sound to Blondie's classics worth being heard.

As they always did, Debbie Harry's vocals stand out masterfully over a melting pot of wonderful rhythms and styles, making this a unique band over the last three decades.

It also works fairly just as what it is: a Greatest Hits compilation. No rarities. No B sides. No new songs. No strings attached.

Worth the money.

Ramones

I first heard this back in 1985, and everyone kept telling me how great this album is. So when I listened to it, I thought: "This is it?"

This is nothing special. This is pop music hidden in the name of punk. In fact, if it wasn't for the Ramones, pop punk bands like Green Day would not exist. Not to mention the stupid songs. Nothing like the catchy hooks of "Blitzkreig Bop", "Beat on the Brat", and "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue".

Punk rock is supposed to be angst ridden, violent, and rebellious. It is not a bunch of harmonious songs that you sing along to, and that's what this album is (along with the entire Ramones catalog). 1. There are a lot of people who write and perform songs that are about nothing;
2. There are some people who write and perform songs that are about something;
3. There are precious few people who can write songs that are essentially about nothing and in constructing and performing them, turn them into songs that are about something.

Rocket to Russia

It's so passe to give favorite reviews glowing reviews - it seems that if an album is beloved, it deserves some kind of classic status.

With Rocket to Russia, the Ramones earn this album's classic status from the first groove. This captures the humor of their first LP and melds it with punk cum Beach Boys feel. Their sound is completely original, but warmly familiar, and all of the tunes are written rightly and cleverly. This isn't hardcore, but it certainly seemed hardcore when it was released (not even Saturday Night Live would touch them), and it's completely unpretentious. Horses

I listened to "Horse" a couple of times after having heard music by Ms. Smith that I found dynamic and emotionally moving. I had also heard rave critiques and was very interested in hearing what many consider to be her best work. The words that come to mind are self absorbed and pretentious, and in large part musically lame. Enjoy it if you enjoy it: perhaps you had to be there at the time of its inception to truly appreciate it. As far as I am concerned this piece falls far short of its mark, and the praise that has been heaped upon it.
