Very plainly put, it's just DIFFERENT than the "old Coldplay", and has quite a new "mix" of sounds and implementations, including Chris Martin's vocal range. I've listened to it twice thus far and think it "grows on ya" and because it has varied sounds, the more you listen to it, the more you could "sorta get into it". I think it's a bit "limited" though, in some sense (as in, when/where you would want to listen to it), whereas before it was ALWAYS good listening to Coldplay. Another point for me is that I don't want to have to "work so hard" at "trying to listen to" any band, just to find it's saving graces (which does NOT mean I'm a non-appreciator of music, since I AM a musician and lyricist personally). Okay, for those who are serious music freaks (as the undersigned) who are constantly surfing on the Web (or in CD stores) looking for something different to fill their ears, some good news: There a lot of 'new' female singers.

Some names: Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, Regina Spektor, Lily Allen... Even the actual Premier Dame du France, Mme. Carla Bruni, has become an acclaimed "new" singer.
... And there's Duffy too.

Honestly speaking, I think that the desperation for finding the new Mega-Superstar of Music in the 21st. Century (considering the lack of real new Megastars in the level of Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion or Whitney Houston, not to mention Diana Ross or Aretha Franklin) makes us believe that any of these ... Not really sure why I bought this album in particular. I already had the new Coldplay CD in my cart and wanted to add another CD just to try something new and also to qualify for the free shipping. I was expecting to love the coldplay CD and wasn't expecting much out of Jason Mraz. It turned out to be the exact opposite!

With that said, I must say I am happily surprised by Jason Mraz's album. This isn't really my "type of music" to begin with, but Jason Mraz really offers something musically satisfying. I haven't heard anything that sounds like this prior to listening to this album.

Good job Jason!

Easy listening with a touch of rock. Robert stills has it, even better! Also saw the concert, the harmony betweeen the two is fantastic.

I purchased this CD along with Duffy's 'Rockferry' and while Adele's '19' isn't on that level, I think its a very good CD. Adele writes most of the material and it feels like a very personal album. I enjoy the CD more everytime I hear it.

I bought this for my nephew and it's one of my favorite CD's to listen to with him. The songs are silly and fun and aren't annoying like a lot of other childrens songs. Highly Recommend.
