They have a folksy sound and they know how to make you want to listen. Very good music. They're not the Beatles, but then who is. It's well worth the money.

I recently watched their Transatlanticism tour "Drive Well Sleep Carefully" on HBO and loved the songs. Normally I don't purchase an entire album unless I'm familiar with the artist and their music. So, I was pleasantly surprised by this purchase because it is a very good album. Other than just liking the sound of the band, I also enjoyed the enthusiasm that is evident when listening to their songs, like they really love what they're doing. I'm not good at giving reviews, I just know what I like, and I definitely like this album. I will probably end up buying all of their albums.

Final Straw

That is how I describe a band that I stumble upon (thank you Grey's Anatomy) and fall in love with. Snow Patrol hit my radar while I was starting to lose faith in the music industry in finding new, exciting and unique bands. I can't tell you the last time I'd found a new band to be excited about (this was in 2006)...Snow Patrol renewed my faith in music and unique, modern, worthy bands.

I bought Eyes Wide Open first and loved it so much that a month later I bought Final Straw. While this CD is not as good as Eyes Open, it's still a pretty damn good CD! If You're Feeling Sinister

If I had to choose the best Belle & Sebastian album ... I couldn't.

But "If You're Feeling Sinister" is the album I'd recommend for anyone who is looking to listen to some of their older music because they like a newer release and want a good starting place to get into some of their older stuff.

Alternately, if you've heard "Tigermilk" and/or "Boy with the Arab Strap" and like them, then this album is a more melancholic, complex, sophisticated, and oddly arousing take on their older story-like songwriting style.

When this album was released, the band never did publicity and it was next to impossible to find a picture of any of them. They sent out press photos with them in a classroom with their heads down on a desk. ... Read More:

Here We Go Again

I bought this CD for my girls who love music. Was tired of Hannah Montanna so thought I'd pick this up. It's great positive lyrics and upbeat songs are a hit with our whole family. BFF is one of the girls favorites. We've given it as gifts to tween friends and its a hit!

Something About Airplanes

What a joy it is to be turned on or to discover music from an artist you're hearing for the first time. I literally stumbled onto Death Cab For Cutie, just passing time in an FYE. I picked up "Something About Airplanes" and thought I'd give a random listen. Needless to say, the incredible melodies, and compelling lyrical content immediately got me open. DCFC bears a strong resemblance to another favorite band of mine, Built To Spill. Lead singer Ben Gibbard's delivery is almost dead on for BTS's Doug Martsch's wailing, melancholy tone. That's a good thing to me, as the same things that drew me in to BTS also seemed to have me ready to expand the Death Cab collection to include their other releases. The Life Pursuit

I first came to know Belle & Sebastian when my pal Patrick put "Lazy Line Painter Jane" on for me. As I was preparing for a bus trip to Los Angeles, he said the song reminded him of me (you will find a boy tonight/ on the first bus out of town). I bought a few Belle & Sebastian albums since and enjoyed them but it was Dear Catastrophe Waitress which hooked me, and then lo and behold this album came out.

The Life Pursuit is just as good as Waitress and then some. Great tracks like "Sukie In The Grave Yard" and "The Blues Are Still Blue" show what a great and diverse band this is. The music kicks it, the lyrics are completely witty and the songs are actually very catchy. Highly recommended!

i somehow discovered Eugenius in undergrad, probably by way of Teenage Fanclub. later i heard Cobain cover the Vaselines, so i got the Way. i was a little overwhelmed by the raw simplicity of it, but i loved it. and i discovered this was also Eugene Kelly stuff. i was very pleased with myself for having made this connection. still later, i discovered the Captain America record.

The album begins like a classic, displaying Belle's signature mellow folk-pop orchestrations at their best- where beautiful intertwined melodies and a hushed acoustic urgency effortlessly combine. Their "Sleep The Clock Around" is probably the best rendition I have heard of one of the most cliched chord phrasings used in modern rock, and everything feels spot on until the sixth track or so, which is when things begin to sharply decline, never fully recovering.
