After catching Electric Feel and Time To Pretend on Yahoo's Launchcast and their videos on Youtube.com I bought their album. The album is pretty diverse in regards to listen-ability. Some songs jump right off the disc on the first play and others have to be revisited to be really appreciated. I am impressed how many great tracks there are on MGMT's rookie release. Usually with new bands the album comes with a radio release single and the rest of the songs are crap. MGMT on the other hand has put together a solid first album. I'm at a loss to say what MGMT comparably sounds like. Style-wise they are either a rock band that isn't afraid to go experimental or an experimental band that isn't afraid to rock. In either event they bring some ... Read More:

Once I listened to the Viva La Vida CD, I went back and purchased all of Coldplay's previous albums. This is one truly awesome!
Release Date September 09, 2008
Great album. "Singer Songwriter," "Pop Lies," and (the single) "Lost Coastlines" are three of the best songs I've heard this year. There is something so interesting about Will Sheff's song writing style and vocal stylings. I find the "Stand Ins" instrumental tracks sort of awkward. "Blue Tulips" and "Bruce Wayne" are definitely not two of my favorite songs. But all is forgotten because the other songs are so strong and unique. Okkervil River is definitely one of those bands more people should know about...

This is a fun soundtrack that evokes the feeling of the movie...an interesting mix of music with a quirky twist and airy feel. Many of the tunes have a folksy feel, but there's also a couple of good classics (the Kinks, Mott the Hoople, Buddy Holly) to balance it out. I happen to adore the opening credits tune (Barry Polisar's All I Want Is You) as it brings back childhood memories of other hilarious Polisar tunes like "Don't Stick Your Finger Up Your Nose" and "Early Sunday Morning" :-) If you enjoyed the movie, it's easy to enjoy the soundtrack even if many of the tunes aren't ones you might normally choose (at least that was the case with me).

I purchased this soundtrack because during the movie I realized I really liked one of the songs. Turned out it was really the only good one on there. Not worth the money. Just download the few songs, if any, you enjoyed.

I actually purchased this for a friend before I bought it for myself. I admit, I discovered her once I looked up that catchy song from the iPod commercials. I sampled the songs and didn't find them to be anything special- but once I listened to the entire CD, I fell in love with it. It's a feel good CD, and definitely a great CD to sing along with. My favorite song being "The Limit to Your Love."

**i'm a 32 yr old guy who used to listen to Stone Roses, Lush, Smiths, REM, etc. and i was thinking this might be like some of that stuff.. it wasn't..
**Lightness, title and registration and We Looked Like Giants are the only decent songs on this CD.. and Giants is screwed up at the end with that dumb static thing that they did on it.. Lightness is the best song by far- it gives me chills listening to it.. very very good.. but again, it's a short song so as much as you like it it only last 2 mins..
**I don't know how anyone could give this CD 4 or 5 stars.. it is honestly depressing.. Transatlanticism, the song, has some good points to it but it is overwhelmingly sappy and slow.
This band is loaded i'm sure.. i'd be curious if there earlier stuff wasn't so sappy ... Read More:

pretty bored with this album. this is a band I thought could do no wrong. love the trappers and Im not just talking about wild mountain nation. sub pop + great band = boring band stripped of personality. seriously, 'not your lover' may have well been written by bon jovi and richie sambora. bring back the trappers i love. sorry early, this shiite don't fly.

An interesting style with many catchy rhythms and melodies. She can get a bit repetitive at times, but overall, still very nice and refreshing.

Strange headline, eh? Well, though my favorite artists are Springsteen, The Kinks, and The Rainmakers, I can't get She & Him "Volume One" out of my CD player. It's the first CD since Springsteen's "Born to Run" where I readily liked every song on it -- consider that a high compliment.
I've been entranced by the inventive and very tuneful melodies of the songs She wrote. It took a few listenings, but "Change Is Hard" has emerged by my favorite and most unforgettable song. The tune is just plain very inventive and ultimately captivating. That's not to denigrate the other songs. "I Was Made for You" is a rollicking old time "girl-group" tune. Frankly they're all a joy -- this CD really reminds me of the inventiveness and adventuresomeness of early Linda Ronstadt, post Stone ... Read More:
