I'm altogether dispirited

I've listened to this about 5-6 times all the way through, and not one song has made an impression

Read the lyrics - they're ok - I don't really care too much about lyrics. My favorite album by REM (Murmur) and I don't know the lyrics on most of my favorite songs on that (Radio Free Europe, Perfect Circle)

I am absolutely miserable. I mean, I'm still gonna listen to the group. I'll stick pick up the next album. But none of these songs are very good. There aren't really any strong melodies

Pete, you can do better! You played on Robyn's very good album Ole Tarantula for gods sake.

Oh my god!

I forgot how great these albums are. I have been an uber-fan of his for over 20 years. The man never disappoints.

If you are on the fence,get off of it and buy this.

If for nothing else, the live Egyptians (disc 5) shows just how tight they were.

The man is a genius.

The brainchild of Seattle musicians Steve Wynn and Scott McCaughey (with assistance for REM's Peter Buck and drummer Linda Pitmon), this CD is way more than a cute exercise in nostalgia. In turns ribald ("Ted F---ing Williams"), bitter ("Gratitude [for Curt Flood]), nostalgic ("Sometimes I Dream Of Willie Mays"), and rueful ("Long Before My Time"), Frozen Ropes successfully and accessibly makes the case that baseball isn't that much different from everyday life, reminding us in "Harvey Haddix" that "We're drawn to tragic stories/The ones that suit us best." Incidentally, the title refers to baseball slang for line drives and pop flies.

i remember seeing this when it first came out .the MTV unplugged series was definitely an armature show till natalie and the maniacs appeared and i never even heard of them the track- because the night became an instant hit you can still hear it on radios stations almost daily (my other favorite was -like the weather )all the tracks were great and the band and natalie were on point this show put the unplugged series on the map and set the standards high it was also visually pleasing to watch but they didnt put it on DVD my other favorite was the nirvana episode no DVD either

Their jangling guitars and vocal harmonies remind me of the Byrds, and the Bangles never fail to get me going. Hard rocking mixed with humor and style, their songs are an eclectic mix that emphasizes their outstanding talent. Walk Like an Egyptian is one of the weirdest and catchiest songs ever recorded, and the video truly captured the quirkiness of it. My favorite on this album, however, is the fantastic cover of Simon and Garfunkel's Hazy Shade of Winter. I wish they had recorded a 20-minute version of it, because when I listen to it, I don't want it to end.

These guys are pretty good musicians, the drummer stands out on several songs. Mostly pretty good songs, with some filler. I've listened to it over a dozen times, and I'm not tired of it, which is pretty high praise.

REM is constantly one of the best Rock n Roll bands ever. Spanning over three decades (more to come) and releasing so many CDs that I have an entire row of my CD rack dedicated to them, this is one of my favorites. You can really see how they became superstars after listening to this one. There's nothing else I can say but BUY THIS CD AND LISTEN TO IT UNTIL YOU WEAR THROUGH IT AND NEED TO BUY ANOTHER ONE.

This album was another great release in the same style as Murmur. R.E.M. at this point had established themselves in the music circuit with their jangly Rickenbacher guitars along with singer Michael Stipes' sweet, yet slightly muffled vocals. Not to forget the other members who make R.E.M.-Billy Berry with his hard hitting sturdy drumming amd the melodic bass of Mike Mills.

This release is a bit tighter and stronger than their first as heard on "Harbercoat" and "7 Chinese Bros.", because of it's overall meatier rhythm. Then it has "So. Central Rain", a mournful moody ballad about a love lost. which we all have experienced. The song "Pretty Persuasion" delivers in a big, hard hitting way as a perfect rock song.
