Alas, the sticker on the label might have said it all. "From the producer of Celtic Women!" And this was to have enticed me? Apparently, it succeeded because buy it I did. The photos in and outside of the jacket might have told the tale: Something manufactured here. The scarves tied a little too neatly....do the gentleman play the instruments they are holding on the cover, or were they just given to them to look authentic? The music, unfortunately, resonates much the same way. Or should I say reverberates? Be wary of production qualities that turn up the echo. Nothing to add really to all the glowing reviews here. I first heard them on a St Patricks Day special on TV and immediately bought the CD. The harmonies have the rich layers of the old Crosby Stills and Nash days but done in the Irish style that is foot-stomping, mournful, reflective, spiritual and ultimately triumphant. Just an incredible CD, you won't be disappointed.

Nothing to add really to all the glowing reviews here. I first heard them on a St Patricks Day special on TV and immediately bought the CD. Before I bought this album, I had only heard bits and pieces from Karan Casey's myspace profile. It was enough to whet my appetite. I am so pleased with this album that it's hard to find the right words.

I am a new listener of hers having only heard her solo albums and never one by Solas, her old band. I absolutely love her voice. She is accompanied by very few instruments on this album, so her voice really shines.

The album is elegant, haunting, and sincere, not to meant powerful. Her words seep through your eardrums and will make you float. I am a fan of traditional music without a lot of modern flair. If you are too, you will love this album.

There are movies where the soundtrack plays on, and it adds to the theme of the movie. Then there are movies, where the soundtrack adds nothing. And then, there are movies where the soundtrack more than adds to the movie.

The soundtrack of "In Bruges" must fall in the third category. I can't recollect many soundtracks that accentuate the mood of the movie it is supposed to hold up, especially a movie as complex as "In Bruges".

To be honest, I'd not heard of Carter Burwell before this soundtrack, but I was watching this movie earlier today, and the background music moved me so much, that I stopped the movie (was on DVD!), went online and bought the soundtrack right then and there! Long Black Veil

A fine album, with an interesting choice of songs. "Foggy Dew" and "The Long Black Veil" are especially moving.

For those seeking chipper pub music, look elsewhere. This is a fine, reflective view of Irish music. Top notch, all the way.

For serious Irish music, you can't do better than this.
