My son is a Dan Zanes groupie (he's been to six of his shows).He's been listening to him since before his second birthday and has been looking forward to new music for quite some time. My son is half Cuban, so hearing DZ sing in Spanish is very significant for him. It's a welcomed addition to our Dan Zanes and Friends collection. Marc Anthony is one of my favorite performers anyway, but this album's selections are the best of the best of his songs. It will get you movng to the sensuous Latin rhythm and lip-syncing along with the lyrics.

I workout to El Cantante - The Original. It's like nonstop Great music to exercise to. Hector Laveo is still the best. I saw Marc Anthony's movie, El Cantante but, I brought Hectors Original CD. It's my favorite CD. I blast the CD in my Escalade, and everybody looking at me and singing along with me. I'm a black guy from the Bronx, living in Manhattan. I don't know a lot of Spanish, but I love hectors music. He is still the Greatest.

Latin jazz has a long&storied presence in American music. From Carlos Santana dabbling in jazz fusion despite Clive Davis' discouragement to the current popularity of Bebel Gilberto and the J.Lo/Marc Anthony biopic about salsa singer Hector Lavoe, Latin flavors have spiced up American jazz.

Putumayo's "Latin Jazz" is an excellent sampler of the genre,beginning with a 1957 song from Machito and Cannonball Adderley,and ending with a track from the Latin Jazz Grammy winning Brian Lynch/Eddie Palmieri Project. It's as sweet as Cuban rum,as spicy as mojo sauce-this compilation has mojo.

Music CDs and videos are usually designed to grab your interest and attention with the first song, and then maintain that interest and attention throughout the rest of the album. This CD begins with songs sung in Spanish with a lot of echo, and then moves into English-sung songs performed without feeling. Marc seems to be in a hurry to get them over with. This is a poorly produced album and, as big a Marc Anthony fan as I am, I cannot recommend it to anyone who knows how talented he is.
