This is an excellent recording of the Nutcracker! It's wonderful to have the full ballet instead of just selections from the suite. The music somehow stays timeless even after millions of seasonal ballet performances and use in shopping malls. Whether or not your a fan of classical music, this is a good recording that almost anyone can enjoy.

We're bombarded with modern Christmas music at work ALL...DAY...LONG. Or at the mall or at the grocery store. Why would anyone want to bring the same music home with them that only reminds them of work? And yet people do this every year. Get back to the basics. Put on the kettle, light the fireplace, use those flicker flame lights on your tree, turn off all those modern white house lights and then put on this cd and just sit on your couch. You'll be in the 13th century in no time. Leave the Bob Hope specials and Lawrence Welk Christmases to the idiots.

In my opinion, this is one of the best classical Christmas albums. It's not only for classical music fans. It features familiar classical songs as well as hymns and secular Christmas songs. In other words, it's easy on the ear for those who are not usual fans of high pitched soprano sounds.

Listeners may wonder if a third collection is too much of a good thing. While this collection is similar to the first two string quartet collections, it is also significantly different. On this disc listeners enjoy some carols some carols, but it also has some strictly classical tracks. People who love classical music and enjoyed the first collection will certainly enjoy this disc as well as well.

I happened to hear this in an mp3 newsgroup and immediately bought it for my folks and several other people. It is an incredible performance and unlike anything usually heard around Christmas . I listen to Classical music all day while working and yet I've never heard this before . Everyone who received it loved it.
