Hot August Night (Remastered / Expanded) (2CD)

CD-Charts > Music > Vocal Pop
by: Neil Diamond

Release Date August 22, 2000
Having heard this album back in the days of vinyl, I had longed to have in my CD collection. When I started listening to it upon arrival I was immediatly transported back in time to my days in the Army at Ft. Bliss,TX. While the songs may be old the live versions are amoung the best. His novelty songs "Porqupine Pie, and Soggy Pretzels are amoung my favorites. This CD is just as I remembered it from years ago. Hot August Nights Rocks!

I've never really listed to Roy Orbison but I saw this concert on TV and I had to ge the CD. He has several other musicians playing with him and the music is great. I also have the DVD and prefer it over the CD.

Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert

CD-Charts > Music > Vocal Pop
by: Various Artists

Release Date June 01, 2004
I absolutely love this musical more than life itself! I hope to some day fulfill my dream of seeing it on Broadway, but it would of course have to come back, but I'd settle for London or Shea's (my local theater) if it doesn't happen.
The first Les Mis song I ever heard came from this CD, "Master of House" which is one of my favorites. Alun Armstrong sings the best version of it on here. I also love Colm Wilkinson, who will always be THE original Valjean. Michael Ball and Judy Juhn do an awesome duet of "A Heart Full of Love," and he does an amazing solo of "Empty Chairs." And Lea Salonga last but not least, is great as Eponine. Her and Ball do a very uplifting, but very sad version of "A Little Fall of Rain," the second Les Mis song ... Read More:

He has several other cd's as well as dvd's (awesome by the way) He changed my life - We call ourselves Grobonites a proud name to bear. Whatever you've heard about the music - if you haven't listened you truly need to. You will not be sorry about the investmant you've made. He has a charitable foundation that helps bring medicine and drinking water to villages in Africa. His foundation also works with AIDS patients. I've actually met him and was able to tell him that he helped me thru Cancer his voice kept me going thru some tough times. Please just listen once. (and it doesn't hurt that he's cute too!)

CD-Charts > Music > Vocal Pop
by: Joni Mitchell

Release Date October 25, 1990
How many high points is one artist allowed? In Joni's case, a whole pile. She gives a lot of the hold hits an extreme makeover, which in my mind is what all artists should do when they make live albums: the jazz fusion "Woodstock" has little to do with either her original studio recording or Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young's rock cover. That's the most extreme example, but "Big Yellow Taxi" (redone as a blues-rocker), and the Miles Davis-influenced "Rainy Night House" are barely recognizable. Which is what playing live should be about: being spontaneous. After "Woodstock", everyone runs off to get high or something and they come back with "Cactus Tree" - one of my favorite Mitchell tracks, but presented in drab form here. Actually, a lot of the ... I wanted to see this tour so bad. Being only 10, I could not go. I listend to this album so much. I just gave it a listen after a long time, and it stands up to time. If you are a Paul McCartney fan, this is a must to own.

by: Elton John

Release Date May 14, 1996
This album gives today's listener an idea of what the deal was about Elton John. Unusual melodies and harmonic chords which grabbed you; quirky subjects and off-beat, often intelligent lyrics (thanks to Bernie Taupin), and some wonderfully manic and physical piano pounding. By 1974-75 the original hard rockin' EJ was gone and The Eternally Mr. Fabulous was what we got in his place.

CD-Charts Music : Unplugged (The Official Bootleg)

Unplugged (The Official Bootleg)

CD-Charts > Music > Vocal Pop
by: Paul McCartney

Release Date January 01, 1992
This is one of the best of the many solo live McCartney CD's, if only because of the relaxed nature of it. Done during the period when widely popular MTV Unplugged was near its peak, Paul McCartney tones down the fire for a laid back and cozy run through a few old favorites, and a surprisingly swinging rockabilly groove. Beginning with Gene Vincent's "Be Bop A Lula" and ending with a McCartney obscurity, Paul is obviously having a barrel of fun. His singing is relaxed and unforced, the band is solid and swinging, and there is an element of cheer that really adds to the proceedings.

There are also some clever stories to be told, like the breif explanation of the first song McCartney ever wrote ("I Lost My Little Girl"). He even lets himself have a ... Read More:

CD-Charts > Music > Vocal Pop
by: George Michael & Queen

Release Date April 20, 1993
The 2 people (or is it 1 double posting) on here who say George Michael can't sing are talking nonsense. OK, you're Queen fans and in your eyes and mine nobody can ever replace Freddy, fair enough, but to say George Michael can't sing is like saying Posh Spice CAN!! It's absurd. I am a massive fan of Queen and on the day of the Tribute Concert it became all too apparent that none of the artists performing could hold a candle to Freddy for sheer vocal ability and performance, then right near the end of the concert George Michael took to the stage. WOW!!! Is all I can say, he nailed it. George sang his butt off that day and you could see and sense the crowd at Wembley appreciating someone who could actually pull it off. They loved it, I loved it and if you don't ... Read More:
