THIS IS A GREAT ALBLUM BY DELANEY AND BONNIE, WITH AN ALL-STAR CAST BACKING THEM UP (INCLUDING DAVE MASON, JESSIE ED DAVIS, A FAT HORN SECTION, AND RITA COOLIDGE SINGING BACKUP), AND SOME BLISTERING GUITAR LICKS FROM OLD SLOW HAND, E.C. GREAT SOULFUL LYRICS, GREAT ARRANGEMENTS MADE ON THE FLY, AND WONDERFUL ALBUM FROM BACK IN THE DAY.

I've enjoyed the musical arrangements and vocals for all of my life. I first purchased this recording, in LP format, in the 1970's. I'm just now rebuilding my collection. This recording is even better than I remember. If you are a fan of Isaac Hayes, you can't go wrong.

I remember getting this and expecting The Miseducation part 2. Well sort of. After all, it is called "Unplugged" which let's you know there's gonna be quite a bit of acoustics. I just wasn't aware of how much would be acoustic. Lauryn is by far my favorite female artist, and she never ceases to amaze me. She's a very interesting and intelligent human being, and has a great sense of humor to top it off. She's one of my all time favorite singers, and all time favorite lyricists. This album is a must for any jazz collection. The live performance is amazing. These two performers and the side men produce a sound that has that groove that stays with you. I had the vinyl of this for many years and it is nice to get a CD of it that still has that sound (without the warmth of hiss and scratches).

I came across this by accident while searching for another band. Twenty nine tracks, and at least 27 are brilliant. Everyone in my family loves this album. What a lineup of stars! (and NO kid rock, no rappers!) Tastefully Done!

It's is against my nature and better judgement to say something like this but, given the caliber of record that is "James Brown Live at the Apollo", I have to say that I feel it is the greatest live album...ever.

Of course we are discussing a pivotal musical figure and a very distinct style of music- but I think anybody that cares about music would be impacted by this amazing album.

More than just an album, it is an incredible document of something very beautiful in the culture of soul music at this time. Listening to this album time and time again over the years has made me fall in love with the audience as much as I have the music.

I can't reccommend this album enough.

Etta James Rocks the House

I really hadn't listened to Etta James before, but recently heard a couple of her songs on [...] - well, I liked them and decided to get a cd. This woman really does Rock the House! What a voice! She reminds me a little of Tina Turner when she was with Ike. I think Janis Joplin may have been influenced somewhat by Etta James. I'm very happy with my purchase.
