Live albums. Some artists shine. The live recordings show why they are so popular when they hit the road. Others should run screaming when their record label or their manager suggests a live project! Springsteen is one of the former. He and his band have always had a reputation as a killer live act. Live 1975-1985 shows that their reputation is well deserved.

By the time these cds were released just before Xmas, 1986, Springsteen had made seven records, including one double. This is sixteen sides of music. Each was a classic. My husband and I love this album! My mom has always loved John Denver and she recommended this album to me when I told her that our 'The Best of John Denver' cd was too scratched to play and my husband was sad. (I bought a replacement for that album too because I really like his older voice singing the songs). Now that I have listened to these discs many times already, I recognize it from my childhood when my mom would play it on vinyl. I loved 'Grandma's Feather Bed' and so many others. My mom asked me to buy this set for her birthday because she hasn't listened to it in years. (I think she's a little jealous). hee hee

Is this the best of her work? It's all fabulous, let me tell you, but I have hope that the best is still yet to come. This CD proves she's still out there and she's still working.

I listen to this music and think how many moments has her music been with us even subconsciously? "Pleasant Valley Sunday" reminds me so much of a neighborhood I once lived in with the garage band down the street and the lawn-of-the-month wars between the neighbors on either side of me.

Oh yeah, and I heard "I'm into something good" the first time I saw my first crush. And "Natural Woman" was my favorite song for years...just how many artists have covered this song?

I remember the sound almost a decade ago. The beauty of her voice, her heart-wrenching lyrics. She was the diva at the turn of the century! She is still the model for pop/rock/folk singer-songwriters today. This album is simply stunning.

The CD companion to the DVD of the Madison Square Garden Reunion Tour. My only wish is that they had included Light of Day on the CD. There are plenty of gems for Springsteen fans in this one. Don't take my word---rent the DVD and check it out for yourself. Better yet, take a peek at the set list on this CD. This is my 3rd copy because two others have been scratched up through use.

Like everyone else, Bruce has the "best live show ever". And if this and Live 1975/1985 are any indication, he deserves that reputation. Think "sheer, combustible energy". So if the bombastic arrangements of Born to Run weren't to your tastes (though they certainly are to mine!), this album is for you. For instance, "Thunder Road" becomes a bare-bones piano/harmonica ballad, and it works very well. And how about that energy? Well, Clarence Clemons manages to take the place of the entire horn section on "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out", which is also given a more prominent guitar part, and "Spirit in the Night" becomes a swinging, nervy dynamo. "She's the One" ends up so frenzied you can barely understand the vocals, but it's so good you won't care. I also think this version ... Read More:

Sarah McLachlan is a delight to listen to. I got this cd after buying her Rarities, B-Sides, and Other Stuff cd. Her voice is very much alive and floating on every song! Not one song is run down or tired sounding because of worn out vocals! Sarah's vocals never seem to tire of singing. She has an excruciatingly gorgeous and luscious voice, full of expression and tenderness. This is a collection of some of her prettiest and best songs, on which her voice has shone quite bright indeed. The fact that this cd is live only makes the songs that much more breathtaking and memorable, not to mention Sarah's melodies that much more likely to become forever entangled in your heart strings. For James Taylor lovers this set is heaven. The two CDs have a great variety of songs. There are JT's time honored favorites but then a few that aren't heard normally. However, the quality is unmatched. Even the backup singers for James Taylor have an unbelievable degree of talent. Some of the solo performaces will knock your socks off!

The CD is easiy worth the price of the outstanding performances
of "Jimmy Mack" and "Spanish Harlem".
The live "bonus" tracks are pretty good also.

I only liked half of this album on vinyl ... the latter half.
And if the performance had been transferred from the vinyl version, I'd give it three stars.

BUT

This 'transfer' from vinyl to CD is a SUCH a hack job. One can easily hear the crude edits. The intimacy of the dialogue from the original recording was slashed.

Truly, my little boy could have done a better remastering job.

For shame.
