I wouldn't really rate this as a "true" live album as the symphony concept was a rare event, and not something that truly portrays the songs as you would here them if Metallica was touring today.
S&M came out when i was in high school. Being a band dork, this was a great fusion of something I was fairly familiar with (classical ensembles) and Metallica, something I was just starting to get a taste for (its hard to dive right in when they were coming off of crapfests like Load and Re-load!) For all their missteps in the studio, they still had a great live act and a real wealth of great material. This turned me on to metal in all its forms and potential.
The first three tracks, this start's out with Morricone's "Ecstasy ... Read More:

Get this album, this is their 2nd live album and first with brian johnson. Brian is very good live. He even does a better job than bon scott. Brian is much better at singing Highway to hell. You can also consider it as a greatest hit album, a lot of their singles are on here but they are live. Also, to let you know this is a double cd, they have 2 different sets. A double which is this one and they have a standard one set cd

Humble Pie Performance Rockin' The Fillmore is the first best-ever live album to come out of the double lp live albums of the seventies. This album is pure rock and roll ecstacy and is without peer. Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band album sounds like a bunch of pansys next to this masterpiece. Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive would never have happened had it not been for Rockin' the Fillmore, on which he played a vital role. This is rock and roll at its best. Powerful guitar, powerful singing, and a rock solid and powerful band.

AC/DC live is just like heaven, especially with original lead singer Bon Scott. Now I'm not at all saying that Brian Johnson isn't great; he is, but he can't hold a candle to Bon, in my opinion.
And this live record, originally released in 1978 on Atlantic but reissued on Epic in the early 2000s, proves how great AC/DC is. With songs like 'Whole Lotta Rosie,' 'Rock And Roll Damnation,' and 'High Voltage,' you know this album is gonna rock.
And, I think Epic did an awesome job remastering this. The sound quality is superb.
While Scott was alive, he made some mighty fine records with AC/DC. And 'If You Want Blood You've Got It' (which is one of the best live records ever put out, in my opinion) is one of the best ... Read More:

Lots of the great songs we want to hear from Bon Jovi, but; when they take snippets from many different concerts and put them on one CD, you end up with too much "crowd play" for my liking. It probably was ok for each concert, but when you put them all together I thought too many of the songs had the band playing to the crowd and didn't keep enough to the original feel of the songs.

This is the greatest album ever recorded. And no, I'm not just talking in the prespective of only live albums or even hardrock albums for that matter, this is seriously the greatest work of music ever made by mankind. I don't know how to put it but "Strangers in the Night" has a certain magic, power and honesty to it that makes me wonder why rock music, or even UFO themselves, even countiued past 1978 due to the fact that NOTHING will ever be this good again. Makes me wonder how hardrock/metal bands of today can happily put out their sonic v a g i n a l execrement, knowing deep in their hearts that they will never be able to slay this F v C k I n G beast that is "Strangers in the Night". Of course it is a live album as well, I am particulary not a strong ... Read More:

This live album was RAGE's final performance together,so the best of their songs are included in the album. I would reccommend this to someone who wants to witness and experience politically (or rather, anti-political) charged lyrics being spewed out, while simaltaneously being backed up by equally harmonic and juxtapositioning guitar. I feel that the live recording is better than the studio takes, mainly because of the palpable emotion (mainly anger, or rather rage) that helps get their message of individualism and transcending political stupidity to the listener better. The crowd roars when u roar and u feel as if u are at the concert. This is not an album to pass up, GET IT!

In addition to other comments: the versions of the songs presented here are far from the best ones available. Sometimes the band sounds like they desperately need to sober up/get their act together, or as if they're just bored.
Mastering is bad: when you get crackling during solos no need to reach to check your speakers - it's on the recording.
Contrary to what I was expecting this album sounds completely uninspiring, and it has Civil War missing. Look elsewhere for GNR.

This set is the Best Metallica concert set I have ever purchased. When it originally was released it was only available in VHS format with a choice of C.D. or cassette for the Mexico City concert, now it is finally on DVD.
All the concert footage presented here proves why Metallica became Rock Gods. Although I have not purchased the last few Metallica albums since they changed their style, I still purchased this set and was very pleased. Only problem was with the stencil and booklet, I prefered the larger size stuff that came with the original boxset; however, the concert footage is still legendary.
My favorite is still the Seattle "And Justice For All" show. This set proves why people who went to see Ozzy Osbourne on his "The Ultimate ... Read More:

Alive! by Kiss is without question a huge breakthrough for the band and one of the best live albums ever made. Obviously there are a lot of controversy on how much of it was overdubbed in the studio, regardless of it, there`s no denying that this double album really showcases Kiss` explosive live shows on any recording formats. Favorite songs: Rock And Roll All Night, Deuce, Firehouse, 100,000 Years and Black Diamond.
