I like any kind of music, but I especially like to hear tenors sing. I was somewhat disappointed, though, because this seems not to be made in the recording studio but at a concert because some of the songs have clapping at the end. I wish I had read that when I looked it up. I prefer studio recordings. I was very disappointed with the recording of my favorite song of all time "Danny Boy", but all in all the CD is not bad. Most likely when I listen to it several more times it will grow on me like it is already starting to do.

A glorious concert in a historic setting, with all involved in top notch form. Finbar finds a great old Johnny Cash number, Ronan sings a Glocka
Mora to end all, and Anthony Kearns sings murderously difficult versions
of Macushla and The Croppy Boy like an angel. And their Courtin' and Irish
Medleys, and their "Nation Once Again" trios are simply glorious glees.
With the benefit of a grand theme, this is perhaps the best, and best balanced, of all their programs.

As an avid fan of the Irish Tenors I thoroughly enjoyed this CD until the last three songs. While I appreciate the Irish Tenors showing their respect for this country and their American fans by recording "God Bless America" etc., I fail to understand what such songs are doing on a Christmas CD. I am especially surprised by the inclusion of "Battle Hymn of the Republic." This song was a marching melody for the Union Army during the civil war and I think it shows a naive misunderstanding of history to include that track on this CD. What has Christmas to do with the Civil War? The tenors need to realize they don't have to include American songs in order to sell to American citizens. Stop catering.

The only regret is that in the liner
notes, the names of composers Manuel Ponce
and Heitor Villa-Lobos are misslabeled in their pictures
thought you should know that; otherewise
the recording is great outstanding work
of Isbin and the New Yorkers, Serebrier is
just as great as always...

Like many people, I have a collection of several versions of the Brandenburgs, and have heard many more. While I respect all good, solid performances, this recording really stands above all the others. The dynamics of the room it was recorded in, the microphone placement and engineering are phenomenal. I love the untempered natural horns. There is a bite to them that is exciting.
I must credit Maestro Antonini with breathing life into this performance. The musicianship is fabulous, and the overall sound is truly wonderful.

I was introduced to Ms. Isbin's music this winter during a trip when a friend had "Dreams of a World" on for 3 days straight, dawn to dusk. Typically, after listening to the same CD twice, one gets bored or annoyed. Yet, this was not the case; on the contrary "Dreams of a World" warmed us up --it was delicately beautiful. Ms. Isbin employs an astonishing pallet of colors, which she blends with unprecedented technical mastery and imaginative nuances throughout her oeuvre.
Cancion y danza for guitar, Agua E Vinho Mahar and Yerushala'im shel zahav are pieces which can easily be overly sentimental and languorous. Ms. Isbin keeps a pleasant balance between the melancholy in her phrasing, the underlying dynamism of her voice
and the warm character ... Read More:

The guitar performance is as good as it gets. Every track could have been recorded as a solo performance and worked very well. The percussion and saxophone enrich the context and move the performance into something more than just music. After listening you feel like you've just enjoyed something wonderful and at the same time you've been educated without realizing it! After listening you understand something about Latin American music that you didn't before.

Il Giardino Armonico was made for Baroque music. Along with their rendition of the Brandenbergs (played like a house on fire), this lute and mandolin recording is a gem. Due to its very nature, the mandolin can tend to become cloying. The short double strings, the small body, etc. But on this recording, the artists make the mandolin become lilting and mellow.
I gave up on Vivaldi over twenty years ago, due to the rampant overuse of The Four Seasons. Il Giardino has brought me back into the fold. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who likes Baroque music, and even to people new to music that is more than 50 years old.

My wife and I saw these tenors live and on stage and we were truly impressed. Their voices blend beautifully and they present a well rounded variety of songs. We so enjoyed the first CD that we bought this current one.
