Put it in, Turn up the volume, and Enjoy your vacation. Sigur Ros has this uncanny ability to warp the world around you, and it it well demonstrated in their latest album. Very few things get me in a better mood in the morning.

I am not going to tell you that "Highly Suspicious"" is a Prince knockoff or this album was too experimental or not experimental enough. But I will ask you to put the CD in, listen from first note to last note, and tell ne that the CD did not take you on an imaginaty journey through different scenic pastures. My opinion is that this CD made my mind travel as would "Wish You Were Here" or "A Farewell to Kings" To me, the whole is better than the sum of its parts. Enjoy

There is certainly a lot of clamor being made over this clamorous wreck of a record. R.E.M may very well be the best American band thus far but not by the merits of Accelerate. This album has no texture and no depth. If, as touted, it is a return to roots it went too far, i.e. back to the formative Athen's basement years too far. But that does not even seem to be the case because though the earliest albums might have been unintelligible they were not unintelligent. And this one is as dumb as a bag of hammers. So all the claims of "back to form" are nonsense. Accelerate is simply the new millennium's "Monster" and simply an obstreperous and cantankerous dud.

Over the years, music critics, (who by their nature have to push something & are always looking to be at the cutting edge and wanting to discover the next big thing), attach themselves to new music that contains several unique ingredients but when the whole product is stirred and readied for listening, something larger like consistent melodies are missing. Fleet Foxes seems to fall into this jar. There are some wonderful harmonic moments, baroque & otherwise, but as a whole this cd leaves only a mediocre taste, and a desire for something more inspiring and listenable.

I love this cd for only a couple of songs, but these songs got so deep under my skin I cant go a day without listening to them,
Many Shades Of Black-Very atmospheric song the horns add great texture to the song, it's an instant classic. Jack White Is one of the greatest guitarists out right now, and he'll be in the rock hall of fame sooner or later and Brendan's voice flowed very nicely over the music suiting it very well.
You Dont Understand Me-Smooth,relaxing, love the piano!
Five On The Five-It's hard not to love this song it's hyperactive, how
can one person have so much talent Jack White? This guy can wail on the guitar and his pipes fit songs like they were tailored.
Hold Up-A fun party song, sounds like ... Read More:

Seriously, stop already with the Radiohead comparisons. This sounds nothing like Radiohead, not Pablo Honey, not The Bends, not ANYTHING EVER by Radiohead. Just because Coldplay's singer tries to sing in a high register like Thom Yorke sings, doesn't necessarily mean the two bands sound alike. Coldplay, for instance, sucks big ones. Radiohead is sort of a brilliant band. There's one difference right there, just for starters.
But whatever, you're not a loser or anything if you like this garbage. Lots of people like garbage even worse than this! So there, feel good knowing that you're not utterly, totally, hopelessly devoid of taste (maybe).

A generous helping of Indie music & some old classics-refreshing & fun!As an old rock & roller, I was delighted to be introduced to Kimya Dawson, the Moldy Peaches, etc.

As I look at a lot of the reviews here, I begin to wonder, "Why all of the hate?" Is it because of the hype? Of course it's the hype. But what else? Is it the backlash against the pretensions of "elitist" culture that many seem to think Vampire Weekend promotes? Or have all of the Paul Simon fans come out of the woodwork to defend what they believe to be a young band of preps muddying their idol's seminal work?
With all my assumptions (which may or may not be well founded) aside, I can honestly say that Vampire Weekend's eponymous debut is, and will be, the best album of 2008.
Come on, the album is blistering with energy and catchy writing, discounting the mediocre "One (Blake's Got A New Face)." The lyrics are witty enough to sustain ... Read More:

I love the emotion. It's something I listen to for the strong feelings it evokes, not lyrics or voice. Although the voice (falsetto or not) does add a tremendous amount of emotional depth. "All of his personal trouble, lack of perspective, heartache, longing, love, loss and guilt that had been stock piled over the course of the past six years, was suddenly purged into the form of..." the album For Emma, Forever Ago.

I'm the type of fan that this compilation is meant for, to answer a prior posed question. I have OK Computer and In Rainbows, but no other Radiohead CDs. The music is great, and I heard songs that I liked from the past, but hadn't even registered in my head as being from Radiohead(such as Creep). This helps me catch up with the band.
Also...if you like this, you need to look out for Tom's brother's CD, coming out July 18. Andy Yorke fronted the band The Unbelievable Truth, and the couple of songs I've heard from the new release show that it promises to be outstanding. The solo CD will be called Simple.
