This is not my favorite style of music, but due to Bedingfield's voice, it has totally grown on me. She is a great singer with fabulous energy. The music makes you feel good. You really want to sing along once you get familiar with the songs.

As naive as it might feel, I've decided that the cover of this album is the best way to describe the music packaged within. A pretty looking girl, heavy on the eye-liner, yet avoiding to stare with that "ain't I pretty" face but rather reclining over her guitar and looking pensive. The bright tones of her skin in heavy contrast to her dark attire; all in all a polished photograph but rough around the edges for a more down-to-earth feel.

Youthful and energetic, with a soothing melodic voice accompanied by rocking instrumentation that enhance, not take away, from her folkish compositions. Got high Hopes but was a bit dissapointed by it all !
I think that the combination could have been tremendous but the album did not excite me at all .. I thought Alison could have tuned up better ..

A lovely voice with a full range, incredible control and phrasing, and that special building of anticipation that the greats have, fill this musical collection of older and more modern music. The musicians are also wonderful and conducted superbly well.

When I heard that Shelby Lynne was doing Dusty covers I thought - how boring . . . I love Shelby's voice but do we really need to keep hearing these same boring songs over and over again? How wrong I was!

The whole album is very understated and that is it's beauty. At times it almost sounds like acapella and I found myself almost wishing it WAS acapella because Lynne has the most beautiful amazing voice and the talent to use her voice like very few artists I've ever heard. Ella Fitzgerald comes to mind, Patsy Cline, Nora Jones (some of the greatest singers of all time.)

In her much too short career, it never mattered whether Eva Cassidy sang sang blues, jazz, rock, country, folk, or traditional songs. Her voice had an unparalleled emotional reach. And no matter what she sang, she always sounded like the "real deal". Never like someone steeped in one musical tradition trying to sing in another.

While Cassidy left this world much too soon, the body of work that remains is absolutely amazing and would have been so had we not have heard any more from her. The "Somewhere" CD only adds to that legacy. Let it sufice to say that it stands with "Songbird" and all of the "Blix Street" releases that have gone before.

Even though I am sooo late in getting Coco, I am sooo glad to have it now. With my first listen and each listen since then, I have been loving the kaleidascope uniqueness found in each of these songs. Bubbly is the song that caught my attention first, hearing it on the radio, and then with hearing Realize, I knew I wanted to hear more of Colbie's magic. There isn't a bad song in the bunch. Colbie has such a fresh way of bringing these songs to life. Her vocals, lyrics, and acoustics are crisp clear, sentimentally alive and even sensual. Battle, Magic, Little Things, and Tailor Made, are wonderful gems, they show the depth of Colbie's talents. I think it is sooo neat that her Dad worked with her on these songs with her. I am not happy with this CD. I listen to christian radio all day long at work and most of these songs on this CD I have not heard before. Wish I would not have purchased it.
