I couldn't agree more with those who are turned off by this disc based on the band's politics, which amount to the usual vaguely confrontational, slightly left-of-center platitudes that plague almost the entire pantheon of so-called "conscious rap," but I have to hand it to these guys for their song "The Rhythm Method (Move!)." When was the last time you heard an emcee keep up with a band that rocks a 7/8 beat with as much unfettered gusto and drum-tight rhythms as this? No easy feat in a genre so slavishly devoted 4/4 time. "The Rhythm Method (Move!)" is a hip-hop must-download track of the year so far...

THIS ALBUM IS SO GOOD! I own almost every Roots album and over the years I've found that the older it is, the more I like it, but RISING DOWN suprised me! It's probably one of my top 3 Roots albums ever. It has an intense purpose and message while still remaining entertaining. The beats are amazing, the lyrics are incredible, and it's one of those CDs that you can keep playing over and over and never get sick of it. Talented and reputable guest artists all over the album! Great driving music!

Kanaye West Graduation is the first cd of his I have ever bought or even wanted to buy as his release approached I was looking past his effort to a man who had held my attention for several years 50 cent . So I picked up 50's effort first and while not as strong as his first efforts I felt it was still a solid effort but as I heard more of Kanaye's effort stronger, welcome to the goodlife and flashing lights really moved me to purchase this cd . Seems to me Kanaye kinda reinvented himself and atleast to me put out a better product . I would say he narrowly edged out Jay-Z for best rap cd of 2007 . Kanaye spits inpressivly and beats are strong while bring in T-Pain for good life appears to have been brillent . Go out and get Graduation

Lupe Fiasco's, The Cool, is just a fun CD to listen to. I am not a Hip-Hop expert by any means, but I like his flow and I enjoy the beats he uses. His collaborations with Michael Santos, Snoop Dogg and Sarah Green are great. When Superstar first came out, I was not a big fan of the song. The more I listened, the more I liked it and decided to give the entire cd a try after sampling all the songs on itunes. I was not disappointed. I am a big Tribe Called Quest fan and while Lupe is not in the same league as Tribe, he reminds me of them. Many of the reviewers here seem to like Lupe's first CD as much, if not better, than this one. I am excited to give a try.

I discovered Michael Franti & Spearhead through my sister, as he gets no radio airplay in my area. I instantly fell in love with his music, the meaningful lyrics and open call for change combined with very enjoyable music. Franti has the ability to absolutely rock and gets you up and moving (Everybody Ona Move and Hey Now Now) but there are also the songs that you can sit and enjoy quietly and really feel the message he is sending, such as Is Love Enough and One Step Closer to You. My absolute favorites on this album are Yell Fire and East to the West, currently, though there is not a single less than loved track on this album. Oh what a lovely collection. Like taking a dictionary to a desert island because it has all the classics in it, just out of order, this is a true desert island disk. I keep expecting the RIAA to break my car window and bust me for the uncleared samples. But it would be worth it.

I think it's safe to say this is one of the most ambitious projects in hip-hop history. It's a double-album, which has done before, but it's essentially two solo albums: Speakerboxx would be Big Boi's, and The Love Below would be Andre's. I'm sure that has been done before as well, but how about this for you: this is The White Album (because it's two solo projects merged into one, as was the Beatles' world-famous double - come on, George and Ringo had five songs between them. This being the Cool Kids first ACTUAL CD that's not a single, it's so impressive. I first heard the Cool Kids a little over a year ago and have been patiently waiting for this album to drop. It finally did and I'm so impressed.

These guys are going to be huge. If you haven't heard anything other than the stuff on this CD you really should check out the MySpace page. The music they're coming out with now might be even better.

Some of the goofiest/most hilarious rhymes I've heard, with thick driving bass, and interesting beats. The only thing I can describe it as is, Fresh.
If you like good Hip-Hop, this is for you.
