This album is laden with great talent, solid production and most of all fun, fun, fun! The songs are not just silly, they rock! Curious?
Like many other people I have had this album since it was released and have never gotten tired of it. This project could have so easily been soulless and stupid, but the bands featured really give it all they've got!
Here's a quick review of each track:
-The Tra-La-La Song: A high energy, alternative jam.
-Speed Racer: A high point for the album, Sponge really shreds on this song and gives it a lot of dimension with motor/guitar sounds.
-Sugar, Sugar: Very trippy, slower version of the song, with cute vocals.
-Scooby-Doo: An OK song, but not great...a ... Read More:

I wonder what idiot thought up this idea? Why don't they have the bands do covers of songs that are actually good and any Crunk song is not. Punk music is slipping slowly into a coma, and true bands and true fans need to bring it back, or well live in a world where every punk band will all sound like fall out boy....GOD HELP US !!

"Chelsea hotel" by Lloyd Cole may very well be the worst cover in history. What madness would provoke someone to turn this great song into an upbeat softrock abortion? I love the drumming especially, wow, it makes me want to drive screwdrivers into my ears. And how it falls off after the chorus, So dramatic! -- like the buildup of a cheap soap opera before a commercial for douches. Total garbage. There are few greater crimes than taking something great and pointlessly remaking it into something awful. Stop me before I listen to that awesome harmonic solo again!

This is a modern and upbeat remake of some old great Carpenters classics. Even if you never heard the Carpenters music, you can still appreciate the sound; and if you are a Carpenters fan then you are in for a real treat. Sonic Youth, Sheryl Crow, 4 Non-Blondes...are just a few of the great artists you can find. Check out the tracks "Top of The World" and "Bless the Beast and the Children". What I really like the most is that this CD is one of the very few that I can enjoy with my 53 year old mom driving with me in my car. For me the songs are hip and have a great rock/alternative sound while staying true to the original versions and yet for someone my mom's age, she enjoys the new sounds of old classics that bring back memories for her as well. Overall, this ... Read More:

Folks, I only bought this CD for "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life. That's one of my favorite songs from the 80's. The rest of the CD outside of "99 Luft Balloons" by Nena is passable. Five stars for the Group 'Real Life'!! Three stars for the disc overall.

I collect instrumental surf CDs and have a very broad context within which to place the songs on this disk. The two songs by the Coffin Daggers are expressive, energetic, ironically humorous, beautifully played, and lovely sounding. They are thick with gorgeous guitar distortion. The rest of the songs are not in the same league, and sound like simplistic garage rock. It makes more sense to get a Coffin Daggers CD. Even the Volcanos (whose own two CDs are sparkling and exciting) sound boring here in a rip-off of the old standard "Church Key" they call "Bad News." I have listened to this CD several dozen times and the bad vibes have grown strong. Several collections that are much better and I still enjoy after many many hearings are "Bikini World," "Swivelin' Wahini" ... Read More:
