Pure Disco, Vol. 2 has a lot of great disco tunes and major hits from the golden days of disco! Going to the discothèque meant you could dance your worries away and find glory on the dance floor even when you were down and out in real life. The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork is very nicely done.
The CD starts with "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. This sounds like a recording she made after she recorded this earlier; but it still sounds pretty good and it's still great music for dancing. KC & The Sunshine Band do their classic disco hit entitled "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty;" "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" has one of the best disco beats I've ever heard and they sing and play this to perfection- ... Pure Disco has twenty-one great tracks on it that anyone from the days of disco will remember fondly! This is the music people heard in the clubs as they danced their cares away on many a Saturday night. The music on this CD is excellent; and the quality of the sound is also very good. The artwork is great!
The Village People start things off big with their smash disco hit entitled "Y.M.C.A." "Y.M.C.A." has an awesome beat and it just might even make your kids want to dance to it! "Y.M.C.A." is classic disco and a great choice to start off this album. Abba's "Dancing Queen" is yet another great number from the golden days of disco; it may have a somewhat slower beat than other songs do but it still is great dancing music. "Hot Stuff" by Donna ... Like many before me, I watched this as a kid in school for several years and was surprised to see a DVD release. The DVD has versions of songs not on the CD (a young Michael Jackson for example).
BUT
The DVD quality is pretty bad. It looks like someone put a video camera on a tripod and pointed it at the wall showing the old film on a screen (complete with things blocking the view) - I'm serious. They didn't remaster it or even do a quality transfer.
This may be the only version you will see on DVD so holding off may not be wise if you have no other copy. I pulled a copy from Showtime a LONG Time ago and it's MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the DVD. How sad...

This is the best album to listen to or just to use as background music.
I have this on every Sunday morning while I read the newspaper
Everyone should have this CD in their collection

Like the cover says, this box features "101 Vocal Group Gems From The Golden Age of Rock 'N' Roll". My dictionary defines doo wop as "a vocal style of rock and roll characterized by the a cappella singing of nonsense syllables in rhythmical support of the melody". That's as good a definition as any, but there isn't really a consensus as to what songs qualify as "doo wop". The first disc includes early groups like the Orioles, the Drifters and the Platters that aren't usually considered doo wop, but were big influences on the doo wop groups. Regardless of what is or isn't doo wop, these are terrific vocal group recordings. Most of them were hits, but there are also many obscure gems included. This box is a "must get" for fans of the vocal group sound.

Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1968 is yet another low priced CD that gives us great rock and roll hits from 1968. The sound quality is great and the artwork is as good as all the others in this CD series.
Archie Bell & The Drells start off the track list with their hit entitled "Tighten Up." This peppy number benefits from great horns, singing and percussion. Archie Bell & The Drells perform "Tighten Up" to perfection and they handle the tempo changes like the pros that they always were!
Listen also for "Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)." This psychedelic rock tune has some great music and John Fred & His Playboy Band do this one up right! John Fred sings this to perfection and it's a great tune for listening--or even dancing! ... Read More:
