It's really weird how the same music can affect different people in such radically different ways. The varied opinions of VIVA LA VIDA on this forum are striking. I've never really considered myself to be much of a Coldplay fan (was always more into Radiohead, by comparison) but - wow! - they really won me over on this one. I took a liking to it immediately.

Every song here is top quality and every song is expertly composed and orchestrated. Major props to Brian Eno whose production style is clearly evident. The musicians are never flashy - every instrument serves to compliment Chris Martin's superb vocal melodies. Chris has grown quite a bit as a vocalist and he sings in surprizingly different ways throughout the album.

I'm not generally a Kid Rock fan, but I love All Summer Long and wanted to buy it on iTunes. Of course, I soon found out that none of Kid Rock's stuff is on iTunes (or any other download service.) Bummer. So I listened to some of the other songs on his web site and actually liked most of them. I bought the album and haven't been disappointed - it is really good! The more you listen, the more you like it. Of course, I have to screen the songs around my kids, but I have been enjoying it and just wish it didn't have "explicit lyrics" on some of the songs - but that's Kid Rock!

What a waste of time! The only people stupid enough to listen to this garbage are the same '60's-fixated slobs who drool all over themselves as they wait in line (shivering with liberal angst) to hear this creep vomit all over our flag in concert. Move on, folks, the '60s are over and this guy still sucks.

Slipknot never fail to impress me. When you talk about "ambition" in music, Slipknot epitomizes ambition. ALL HOPE IS GONE is no different from other Slipknot albums in the sense of capitolizing on ambition and creativity. It serves as another strong addtion to Slipknot's discography.

".execute" serves an excellent intro to ALL HOPE IS GONE as it is representative of the sounds and ideas that ALL HOPE IS GONE pushes. "Gemantra (The Killing Name)" is where the real meat lies, serving as a fine opening track. From the jagged opening guitar riffs of "Gemantra", you can tell the "masked freaks" are going to take you for quite a trip, as always. I don't think I've ever listened to a cd without skipping a track. I bought "The Block" the day it hit the stores and I've listen to the entire disc at least 10 times already. I'm addicted and don't want to hear anything else right now. My husband thinks it's a pretty solid album...and he's a fan of rap music. I highly reccommend "The Block" to everyone that loves great music. If you're not a fan...you will become one after listening to it. They will not disappoint.
