The box is not too sturdy, but the CD cases are OK. I took one out and jumped on it repeatedly and it broke after about 4 tries. I think Deutche Grammaphon makes the best. Also, the box is not too stain-resistant (I tested it).

Just finished listening to the disc and very pleased - lots of light and airy works some towards the end are very *soft* with surprising CRESENDOS at the end to wake u up! Another super disc to add to the andsnes collection !

The Willis Organ at Salisbury Cathedral

This is a wonderful CD. The Salisbury Organ is in the very capable hands of Organist, Michael Murray. Not only does the CD demonstrate for us the great qualities of the Tuba Mirabilis and 32' Ophicleide, but also the soft string sounds of the organ. A definite must buy!

As the daughter of an organist, and having grown up with a full sized church organ (albeit electric and not a pipe organ) in the house, I heard a lot of wonderful music. My favorite is the R. Vaughn Williams "Prelude on the Welsh Hymn Tune 'Rhosymedre'". Such a lovely piece has never been matched, in my opinion. And it is rare to find it on any recording. But this CD has it!!! And Mr Wilson's interpretation is very similar to my dad's. I love this entire CD. And such a fine organ!!! Thank you for bringing a wonderful memory back to me. This is a recording that anyone who enjoys beautiful, calm organ music should have in their collection.

Conlon Nancarrow: Studies for Player Piano, Vols. 3 & 4

I've been trying for the last five years to summarize Nancarrow's appeal as a composer -- an especially hard thing to do when he's still so woefully unknown or underappreciated by a wider audience. It has to be listened to to be believed. If you're looking for music that's imaginative and original, if you yearn for something that's ferociously energetic and ingenious, just sample some of the cuts that Amazon has included in the "Listen to Samples" section for this 2-CD set. I recommend the samples for studies 2b, 7, and 11.

Brahms: Complete Piano Music

Brahms composed an astounding amount of piano music. Variations were a Classical form that long fascinated him. His most famous are The Handel Variations Opus 24, and the difficult Paganini Variations in which he shadowed the style of Liszt. Today this work is often compared with Bach's Goldberg and Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. Some of his shorter works include his Intermezzos,Romanzes, Rhapsodies,Caprices,and Fantasies. To me these are Brahms's most most important and expressive pieces he composed. My favorite pieces are Intermezzo 116 No. 4 and Intermezzo 118 No. 2.
