This is an amazing selection of "oldies" sung in the inimitable style of Michael Buble. He revives an old Frank Sinatra song ("The Best is Yet To Come") making it his own. His rendition of "Call Me Irresponsible" is irrepressible and wonderful. His voice is so smooth it could be termed "vocal silk." This young Canadian singer is talent at it's very best and worth many hours of relaxing, beautiful music.

There's so much going on in this recording that it's hard to gain purchase on the album as a whole. Great to hear Nefertiti brought back with the marvelous Wayne Shorter. I had recently relistened to the Hissing of Summer Lawns where a lot of Joni's later music is prefigured so there is definitely a memory lane aspect to the listening experience. I just don't think it gets much better than this. On the vocals: I love Luciana Souza ("perhaps like a soft brazilian singer"), Corinne Bailey Rae merges and flows with the river, Joni is simply supreme. Wasn't all that thrilled with Norah Jones, though.

My favorite is his CD entitled Coming Home. I love every song, but I must admit if you're a Michael Buble fan you will absolutely love this one too.

Growing up as a young boy in my parents house I was bombarded with a variety of music in my youth. My mother would be ripped after drinking Hamm's beer with my uncle Terry all day (My dad made good money. I mean she couldn't buy better beer?).... My elementary school teachers are still probably wondering why I was so dang tired all the time. You try sleeping through Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger blasting unto the wee hours of the morning at seven years old and I bet you would try to catch some shut eye too.
