I bought this CD mostly because there are very few 5 star CD's anywhere on Amazon, so I thought this one must be spectacular, right? Wrong. It's a huge disappointment. Especially considering how good everyone makes it out to be. Where are the catchy bass lines or the driving drum beats? There aren't any. He's a DJ, yet you can't dance to any of the songs on this CD. If you played this at a party, or in the car on a crazy night out, you'd make everyone confused.
To give him credit, What Does Your Soul Look Like (Part 1) and Midnight in a Perfect World are great songs, but just know beforehand that those songs are worlds better than any other on the CD, and even then, they are really slow paced songs. On a CD that has a 5 STAR RATING, you ... Read More:

I love the verve remixed series - the best mixes wherever, whenever you need them - thank you. Remixed squared is my favorite. The marriage of the dance and the jazz work together stretching the music to beautiful new places. Sinnerman, Whatever Lola Wants, Brother Where Are You?, Soul Sauce, Fried Neckbones, Naima's Love Song, Black is the Color... are genius. I didn't love Angel Eyes as much as the rest but even it is strong.
quality mixes dance groove flow
Still skeptical? - then remember who's on here - one name - Oscar Brown Jr.
(never heard of Oscar? then go find out - you'll thank me)

After seeing the golden age of hip hop deteriorate and then the dissapointing sell out of DJ Shadow I had begun to lose all hope for artists who had a passion for the art of sampling. I purchased "The Audience's Listening" and I was so happy to hear that Cut Chemist was keeping this sound alive.
Although DJ Shodow and Cut Chemist both still work together on a constant basis, we now all know who to give our respect to. An album like this was truely needed this day and age. Anybody with a love for sound collage will not be dissapointed. Support Cut Chemist.

It's an injustice that 8 years have now past, and the Avalanches have yet to release a follow-up to Since I Left You. As for why? Nobody knows. However, when artists set the bar so high, the pressure to re-create an audible masterpiece can be overwhelming.
The mash-up that is Since I Left You is unique, fresh and unattainable.
Their debut full-length release is nothing like any of their earlier EPs. People that are familiar with their earlier efforts might not warm-up to Since I Left You at first. If given a chance, it will infect you and end up as a staple of your musical diet.
This album exposes the enormous simplicities that are rampant within the electronic genre [Daft Punk to Norman Cook]. Since I Left You is the "Paul's ... Read More:

this album may have beats from stoupe enemy of mankind or whatever his name is, but their not all that great, listening to music, taking small samples blending them over drum beats does not mean you have talent, jus allah is racist and his lyrics are obviously fantasy, he's just some guy from philly who writes down complex phrases and says them over beats, in real life, WEAK!!! and vince paz - a white kid from philly who claims to be muslim and hates gays, i met him when he was in a group called soulcraft, his rhymes and voice may grab ahold of you, but listen to what he really says, he's pathetic along with his self hating (must wish he was'nt white) anti-gay (can't except who he is) wish's he was supernatural cultrally confused little boy.

Really shows off Ronson's talent and the guest list really brings weight. The only thing that gets a bit tired is hearing Ronson's name in every other verse. From a marketing stand-point, brilliant, but it sounds as if Ronson himself requested each vocalist to utter his name at least once during each vocal take.

A good album to have from this ever-popular series. No duds on the original release containing 13 tracks. "Gula Gula" [Chilluminati Mix] and "Any Other Name" (heard on the score from American Beauty) are both great inclusions. Again, it would be nice to have these albums mixed, but the separated tracks allow the listener to easily formulate their own personal playlist of favorites.
A strong album from Cafe del Mar and worth 4/5 stars.

Ah yes the Private Press. Has it already been 6 years? Well it has and the album continues to impress. I honestly believe the album is appreciated more today than it was upon its' release back in 2002. DJ Shadow quality music with a bit more flair. This album could've been a masterpiece had it not been for some tracks. Ahem ...Monosylabik and Right Thing / GDMFSOB. To this day I have no idea why he did not include the other version of GDMFSOB with Roots Manuva (see the Private Repress). I simply couldn't give this album 5 star because of the above mentioned tracks.
However, the remaining tracks are excellent. The Motorway songs are great with their continuity and soul. Giving up the Ghost shows off Shadows beat skills and Six Days has to be heard ... Read More:

Yeah, it's been years since any of you even thought of this guy... but, oh well, so I'm late to the party... I guess I just wasn't impressed back in the day when I was listening to techno by mr Shadow. His sound on this record is somewhat accomplished, very atmospheric, etc. It's kind of like an intersection between jazz and dnb. Unfortunately I'm not that into jazz, and the work contained here is rather on the slow-paced side. Interesting, and accomplished, no doubt. But the only song I enjoyed listening to was High Noon, a fast paced, weird show-down type rave song. Pretty fun. The production values are pretty high, so you might wanna give this a listen. The quartet `what does your soul look like' is pretty good, and atmospheric, but it just didn't hold my attention. ... Read More:
